Squids can use INK when injured (press W!)
+ you can hide in Red Berry bushes
The Squid is a tier 5 Ocean animal in Mope.io, and is the equivalent of the Deer, Flamingo, Reindeer and Gazelle.
Technical[]
- Upgrades from Pig, Woodpecker, Seal or Sea-horse at 2K XP.
- Upgrades to Jellyfish, Hedgehog, Peacock, Fox, Arctic Fox or Fennec Fox at 5K XP
- The Special Ability of the Squid is to Squirt Ink; when activated, a small black patch (ink) will appear. which stuns all animals that aren't immune to ink. The ability will automatically kick in when the Squid is damaged by another entity, and it cannot be used if the squid isn't hurt (similarly to the Pig's ability when it's not in mud).
- The Passive Ability of the Squid is Ink Immunity.
- It can consume Plankton, Berries, Mushrooms, Lilypads, Carrots, Mangoes, Dates and Cactus Pears. Prey of the Squid includes all animals within the range of tier 4 to tier 1 (Sea-horse to Shrimp).
- Predators of the Squid includes all animals within the range of tier 6 to tier 13 (Jellyfish to Killer Whale).
Appearance[]
The squid is a light turquoise animal, with a hue similar to the Dragon. It has 2 pairs of tentacles coming out of its front side, that have two suction pads underneath each tentacle. It also has a large, triangular tail with two flaps coming from each side of it. Its eyes have a darker outline around them.
Gold Trim[]
The Gold Trim Squid has golden suction pads, a smaller caudal fin, and a golden wavy line separating the head from the tail.
Cuttle Fish[]
The Cuttle Fish is golden. Its tail is rounded with wavy darker stripes on the sides. It has a single wavy caudal fin that reaches further forwards, almost leveled to the eyes. The rest of the Animal looks identical to the Squid besides the gold hue.
Seacoast Squid[]
The Seacoast Squid is a vivid turquoise. Its tail is a mix of cornflower blue and sky blue, with cobalt blue caudal fins. The Animal has a complicated array of designs featuring dots and wavy lines. The eye sockets are a very light green, with a sky outline. Its eyes are black with green reflections.
Void Scuttling Squid[]
The Void Scuttling Squid has a deep purple body that has multiple ridges. Its face is a dark bony-white, appearing to be like armor, with two purple eyes. The inner area of the Squid's eye is the same color as its body, while the outer area is lighter. The Void Scuttling Squid also has four tentacles on its face.
Old/Legacy[]
The Old version of the squid resembles a turquoise drop of water with eyes, small triangular shapes on its tail, and 4 circles representing the tentacles. The second pair of circles is darker than the first.
Strategy[]
- The quickest way to level up is by biting a high-tier animal's tail (such as that of a Shark). It will be easier to follow a Shark or Killer Whale, since they would probably not bother the player due to the Squid having minimal XP.
- If this method is attempted on a predator and fails, find a new predator; attempting to bite the same predator twice will likely fail since the predator will become more cautious and guard their tail.
- Like other lower Ocean tiers, the player can trail around a Shark to scavenge the meat pieces produced when it bites prey. This strategy will be a little more dangerous, in case the animal being bitten by the Shark turns out to be the player. To avoid this, try look occupied and undisturbing; dive under land-masses whenever no other animals are around.
- Healing Stones are still somewhat effective in this stage. If the player sees one, they should go for it to aid the leveling up process. Notably, Healing Stones are not very fulfilling in XP so they are a substitute when no other options arise.
- When or if a predator approaches, dive under the Stone so that the player can still leech XP from it and avoid being injured - the player should not use their ink ability unless necessary.
- When hunting for prey, the player should go for Land-based animals such as Moles if they are in water, as most Land animals are slower in water (an exception is the Pig).
- If the player is injured as a Squid, they can press
W
to Squirt Ink; a black patch of ink that slows down and stuns other players will be created, allowing for a quick escape.- However, Octopi are immune to ink so it is best to avoid them when seeing one.

Trivia[]
- Before the Squid gained its Special Ability, the concept was hinted in the Changelog entry from November 30, 2016.
- It uses the same color as the Dragon. This makes it look like a small Dragon when "no animal images" mode is turned on.
- If a Squid squirts ink, upgrades and enters its own ink, the player will be affected unless their animal is immune to ink.
- It has the most animals in its order, Cephalopod with itself, Octopus and The Kraken.
- Cuttlefishes in real life are not actually squids. They are completely different animals in the same order.
Glitches[]
- After the update on December 18, 2016, the Squid could not hide in Berry Bushes. This effect was reversed on December 21; Clickstan stated it was a bug/glitch.
