The Store, alternatively known as the Shop, is a feature in Mope.io that is accessible through the Home Screen. Initially added as a feature on the Home Screen in the "#GoldenAge" update on December 23, 2019, it allows players to purchase products such as Skins, 1v1 Redemption credits, assets and Mopecoins, via an account. There were a limited number of skins at first, but later more were added, along with the account feature and animals such as The Snowgirl, The Bigfoot and The Snowman.
Accounts[]
An account is a prerequisite in order to access and make purchases in the Shop. Accounts can be created by signing up with a Google or Facebook account. Multiple accounts can be created with different Google/Facebook accounts, but skins and coins that the player buys will be kept exclusive to individual accounts, depending on which one is being used during gameplay. It is not confirmed whether there are only Login buttons to sign up, but the player continues the same way they would if they were logging in to sign up.
Accounts are also necessary in order for players to use the chat, as of July 30, 2021. Any logged-out player cannot use the chat, but will still be able to see other players talking. In order to log out of an account, one must go to the Home Screen and click the red Log Out
button that is in between the Play
and Store
buttons.
Banning[]
If a player is found to be using mods or hacks to give themselves an advantage, their account will be banned, rendering it unusable. The Mope Police Squad are players that have the ability to ban people who are using hacks in-game; they can do so by clicking on a player with a red target, similar to the one used for inviting players to the 1v1 arena and in some Special Abilities.
According to Addicting Games, offenses that warrant a permanent ban include but are not limited to, use of illegal sandbox servers, game-changing scripts, accessing and manipulating accounts, 1v1/spawn bots, etc. Addicting Games also plans to implement temporary bans for less severe offences to serve as warnings.[1]
Currency[]
The virtual currency of Coins, or Mopecoins, is used in the Store. Mopecoins are accumulated through gameplay while a player is logged in to their account, as long as ad-blocker is disabled. The amount of mopecoins earned after dying in-game is determined on what tier the player reaches, how many animals/rares they killed, and other factors. The coins earned during gameplay are added to the player's account on death, disconnection, or by exiting the game (refreshing the page will not add the coins to the player's account and they will be lost).
In-game[]
Since November 1, 2020, mopecoins are an edible food source in the game. They can be found in any biome, and when consumed will add 1 coin to the player's account and around 3-4 XP when eaten. The more players there are in a server, the more mopecoins will spawn. All animals from tier 1 to tier 17 (not including AI Animals) can eat mopecoins.
Microtransactions[]
Mopecoins may alternatively be purchased in the Store with real-life transactions in bulk amounts, using US Dollars. The mopecoin purchase offers can be seen by clicking into the Store, and then clicking on the Coins
tab. Payment requires usage of a Credit/Debit Card or Mobile Payment. The offers are as follows:
2,000 | $1.99 |
6,000 | $4.99 |
14,000 | $9.99 |
32,000 | $19.99 |
100,000 | $49.99 |
250,000 | $99.99 |
Purchasable items[]
Skins[]
- Main article: Skins
The Store displays skins from the most recent to the oldest, in a specific order. Some skins from the store can be bought individually for a smaller cost, while others can only be bought in a bundle purchase. If a skin is bought, it will no longer appear in the Store and will shift the position of other skins. The Store additionally has a filter that can isolate Skins based on their price.
Deals[]
Deals are bulk purchases that provide the buyer with multiple skins at once, and are typically rather costly. Currently, the discount Locked and Golden deals are the only ways to obtain the respective skins as of the Summer Update.

Criticism[]
The addition of the Store to Mope.io was at first harshly criticized due to most players disliking the concept of online currency and its implications for future updates. When The Snowman and BigFoot were added, the latter animal was extremely disliked not only for being imbalanced and promoting the 'pay-to-win' concept, but also that its extremely high cost made it hard to achieve even for players with accounts, without spending real life currencies. In the Mini Winter Update of December 31, 2020, the BigFoot, Snowman and Snowgirl's rarities became 1/10 when purchased, in order to not guarantee that players who bought these animals in the Store would always be able to choose them. This decreased the amount of criticism towards the Store due to its exclusive animals thus becoming more balanced and retaining an element of luck.
In the years since the Store has become a feature, however, some players of the Mope.io community have called out recent updates for being centered around adding new skins to the Store rather than focusing on new content. In response, KOA has assured players that new animals such as the Bird Monster are in the works, and the developer team aimed to focus on optimizing user interface and bug fixes first.
Trivia[]
- All skins bought from the Store formerly displayed a yellow star-shaped (*) glint on a random part of the Animal occasionally.
- The Golden King Dragon is, in terms of Mopecoins, worth less than the Golden Black Dragon. With the Golden KD at 20K and the BD at 25K, probably because the KD isn't used nearly as often as BD.
- As of August 2021, there are over 1 million users who have registered with an account in Mope.io.[2]
- While Clickstan developed Mope.io, KOA confirmed that he made the animals and Clickstan made the decisions of which skins went in the shop.[3]
Glitches[]
- The free skins used to deplete coins,[4] but no longer do after the "Hotfix 2.7" update on August 27, 2021.
- With the initial release of the Summer Update on July 30, 2021, Locked and Golden skins would not show up in the player's owned skins tab. This bug was fixed a couple days later, but has returned.
- The Store has a reputation for sometimes failing to purchase a Skin or feature, especially the Gold Trim and Legacy Skin Deals, and wasting valuable Mopecoins. However, it is sometimes a cache or account issue.
- Throughout time the account server has been known to crash for variable amounts of time, causing any to-be-given Mopecoins in a session to be lost, logging players out of their accounts, and making it impossible to log in.
- Mopecoins are occasionally randomly lost while playing, even if the account server does not crash. In most cases they are lost for good, but will sometimes be added to the player's account after several hours. This is often a cause of frustration among the community.
- Prior to the October 14 "Version 3 UI" update, earned coins would often not show on the Home Screen until the next day or later.
