- Note: These rules are subject to change at any time if Staff feel it is necessary.
These are the official rules and guidelines for the Mope.io Wiki. All users of this wiki are obligated to abide by them; failure to do so will result in a punishment from the admins. These rules are here to ensure that the community environment is peaceful, and that articles of the wiki remain in good condition. However, the most important rule is common sense. Don't try creating loopholes just because something isn't listed here; you can still be punished for acting out of order by doing something that may not be explicitly listed on this page.
If a user breaks these rules, please contact wiki staff to inform them of it, and they will make an appropriate decision on the matter. Users who break rules typically receive two warnings or "strikes", then a block on their third strike that will be any given length depending on the extent of the offence. However, some severe offences can warrant a block without warning.
The official Fandom Terms of Use (ToU) also applies to all users, and can be enforced by both local admins and Fandom Staff.
TL;DR
Below is a more simplified section of the rules, which summarizes most of the key principles of how to act on this wiki.
- Do not break Fandom's Terms of Use (ToU)
- Harassing and/or cyberbullying other users is not tolerated.
- Do not use excessive uncensored profanity or other vulgar language.
- Conversations and posts on this wiki should not contain inappropriate, controversial or NSFW content.
- Edits that do not align with the editing guide will be reverted. This includes vandalism and spam.
- Do not leak unreleased features that have not already been shown/teased by the developers or designers.
- The discussions are the only place that fan content is permitted to be showcased. Mainspace articles are for canon topics only: Roams content belongs on the Roams.io Wiki.
- If you are blocked from the wiki, do not use an alternate account to evade your block. You can appeal your block on Community Central only.
Extended rules
Behavioral guidelines
- Don't harass users, i.e. being provocative, deliberately trying to annoy others or constantly badgering someone about a topic that is complete. This can also be referred to as trolling, or personally attacking them.
- Uncensored vulgar/profane language is prohibited, as this is a PG-13 wiki. Particularly using foul language against another user will most likely earn you a block, but it will be taken into consideration the context of using such language. Curse-words should be censored using an asterisk (*) to replace vowels (at least), but keep it at a minimum.
- Discriminatory comments of any kind are not tolerated, and will also result in a block. If this is done in extremes, the block can potentially be infinite. Examples of discrimination are racism, sexism, homophobia etc.
- Do not spam in any way. This goes for edits, files, messages, etc. Spam will be deleted and the poster will be blocked.
- Don't harass others about their preference for Roams.io or Mope.io, as it is unconstructive and wards off valuable editors.
Threads
- If someone hasn't replied to your message yet, be patient. They may simply not have seen it yet, and everyone does have lives outside of Fandom and can't be here every moment.
- While it is okay if you have lots of questions or want to talk a lot, try not to excessively send messages to users on their wall.
- All behavioral rules apply. People should feel free to communicate with others via threads, and any sort of misconduct on message walls will result in the rule-violating message being deleted and the user being warned or blocked, depending on the situation.
- Do not necropost. Necroposting is when someone adds a new message to a thread that is 2 weeks old or more. For reporting them, please see a staff member by hovering over Top Navigation.
- Normally if a thread has been unanswered for 2 weeks, the topic has been resolved.
- This is mainly a nuisance for users that have participated in the thread, as they will be notified and have their time wasted by reading the thread. Necroposts are usually deleted to prevent notifications.
- Initially you will be given a warning, and repeated offenses will give you a 2 week block at most. Inconsistent posters may be blocked longer to be effective. If this issue is only present on Discussions, you will be blocked from posting there only.
Comments
Comments on mainspace articles have been enabled for the purpose of chatter about the article subject. Therefore, they should not be misused:
- Comments should be relevant to the article subject.
- Behavioral rules apply too; any comment that has the nature of attacking or harassing a user for their opinion will be deleted.
- For articles that are controversial, the comment section may be disabled. This may also occur if the comment section has a history of being the cause of arguments or spam.
Editing
- For guidelines on how to edit and format articles and file naming conventions, please refer to the Editing Guide.
- When editing, vandalizing anything is not allowed. 'Vandalism' means defacing the article in an attempt to remove information or for trolling purposes. See this Community Central article for information about why vandalism is not allowed.
- Edit-wars on articles will result in the article being locked so that it can only be edited by content moderators and administrators.
- Edit-warring is when two or more users undo each others edits, due to both believing the other's edit is incorrect. Often edit-wars are in good-faith and are due to the participants wanting to improve the article status, but regardless, edit wars will not be tolerated.
- When adding categories to articles, they must currently exist. Meaningless/spam categories will be reverted, and the user warned. This also means don't make duplicate categories; check on other pages to see if there is a pre-existing category for what you want to add.
- Articles should have as little opinionated language as possible. The purpose of a wiki is to be informative and factual; personal opinions should be kept exclusive to article comments, and the discussions. For more on this, read the Editing Guide.
- Edit-farming, which refers to making an excessive number of meaningless edits purely for the purpose of gaining a higher editcount, is forbidden. Any edits that appear to be edit farming will result in the farmer being warned and possibly blocked if they continue to farm.
- Avoid plagiarism, specifically self-plagiarism, when writing text in articles. This refers to "recycling or reusing one's own specific words from previously published texts," which includes using the same excerpt of text on multiple articles of this wiki.
Canon vs. fanon
- All articles are strictly about canon concepts and must have accurate canon information, as opposed to "fanon" (fan-concepts). "Canon" in this case refers to content that existed in Mope.io at some point in time or that will eventually be released and is developer-confirmed.
- Fanon content is not allowed on the mainspace pages of this wiki. "Fanon" refers to a fan-made idea that doesn't exist in Mope.io.
- You may add fanon content by creating a post in the discussions, including fanart.
- Any fan content added to main pages will immediately be deleted.
- If an animal has been confirmed from the developers or designers via social media, it will be considered canon (real). However, links must be provided and cited in order for it to be officially branded canon. See the editing guide for more.
Images
- All images that are uploaded to the wiki are to be PG-13 appropriate; NSFW images will instantly be deleted. In this context, NSFW includes epileptic-inducing images, anything that is visually sensitive, or otherwise inappropriate visual content.
- The number of non-contributive images uploaded by users should be kept minimal. The term "contributive images" refers to images that are used on articles, in templates, etc.[note 1] Non-contributive images are ones uploaded by users for a personal purpose, e.g. for display on a user page. Non-contributive images are allowed to an extent, but should not be excessively uploaded.
- Non-contributive images that are not being used on any area of the wiki (i.e. unused images) will be deleted, usually without notice.
- Images that are used for disruptive purposes such as vandalism will be deleted instantly.
- Assets taken from the game must be from features already in the game, have been in the game at some point, or were hinted but never used. They cannot be from unreleased features per below; leak uploads will be deleted.
Language
- This is the English-language Mope.io Wiki, so articles must be written in English exclusively. Do not write articles in other languages, or change the language of the articles from English to another language.
- There are currently Mope.io Wikis in Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Croatian, and Brazilian Portuguese. You can also create a non-English language Mope.io Wiki yourself for a language that is not already listed.
- Non-English Mope.io Wiki articles can be linked at the bottom of the page as an interlanguage link on the relevant article/page.
- Speaking in a non-English language on message walls and in blogs is fine, but article comments and discussion posts should be primarily in English.
- Spamming or insults and profanity in another language is not allowed, even if the person it is directed to doesn't understand the language.
Userpages
- When creating your userpage, false or misleading information (e.g. saying that you are staff when you aren't) is not allowed.
- If you plagiarize coding from another user's userpage without asking, they may ask you to undo the edit if you don't have their permission.
- Repeated disruptive editing on your userpage (such as edit farming or plagiarism) can result in your userpage being protected to prevent you from editing it, and a block if the behavior continues.
- These rules also apply to your message wall and message wall greeting.
This wiki is recognized as official, but is managed independently of 3AM Experiences. However, actions that negatively affect the game and community are prohibited:
Mope.io accounts
- Mope.io accounts from the Shop are to be kept by their respective owners. Do not attempt to sell, share, swap, or buy accounts. Additionally, don't offer to get or buy currency or skins for other users.
- Do not share user Mope IDs, even if it's yours. If you accidentally reveal your Mope ID such as in a screenshot, immediately hide the information and ask an admin to fully delete it. Deliberately sharing another person's Mope ID will cause you to be immediately blocked.
Leaks
- Do not leak upcoming unreleased content (namely assets) if it has not been already revealed publicly on a Social Media platform by the developers or designers (current or former), or unless you have been given explicit permission by a dev/designer. The client itself is considered to not be a source.
- You may share unreleased features if their existence is verified/permitted to be shared.
- Leaking unreleased assets on any area of this wiki will result in the post/s containing the leak itself being deleted, and the user will receive a warning. Unlike other rule violations, a second violation of the leaks policy will result in a temporary block.
Hacking
- Advertising hacks, mods, or any type of illegal software used to provide unfair advantages in Mope.io (or any other game for that matter) is strictly prohibited. Any messages or posts that promote hacks will be deleted, and the user warned.
- If a user reveals that they use or have used hacks, they may also be blocked depending on the extent to which they endorse/use these hacks.
Clones
- Unofficial, unauthorized clones of Mope.io exist, usually to profit off the 2016-2017 era of the game which many players consider to be the "good times". Do not advertise or encourage the playing of these clones.
- Content from clones should not be confused with official Mope.io content. Advertising content of these clones under the guise of a fanon idea is not allowed either, though fanon content with similarities to a clone is not necessarily prohibited.
- If a users reveals that they use or have used clones, they will not be blocked for this alone. However, if they advertise any clones repeatedly in spite of warnings, they will be blocked depending on the extent of advertising.
- Roams.io is considered to be a different game, rather than a Mope.io clone. While its content can be discussed in the "Off-topic" category of the discussions, it is recommended to instead use the Roams.io Wiki to discuss that game.
Sandbox
- Since February 18, 2017, the official Sandbox has not been made publicly available. Do not upload images of, link to, or encourage the playing of Sandboxes on external sites, as they are not secure, not meant by the developers, and often copyright violations. Such content will be deleted. Repeated attempts may lead to a permanent block for spamming and misleading content.
- If you aren't sure whether Sandbox is official, don't post about it. The real Sandbox should be announced by the developers in the Changelog when and if it's readded.
Miscellaneous
- Don't create unnecessary discussions or threads, it is considered spam.
- Do not bring drama from other wikis or other platforms to here. If you want to discuss an issue from another wiki, do so on the wiki itself or on Community Central.
- Don't remove/lock warning messages. It is up to staff members to lock a thread if it becomes too off-topic.
- Don't upload inappropriate or illegal links/images/videos or ask for them.
- Do not pester a staff member when they are on hiatus unless they are the only staff available and the matter is very urgent. If the staff member says to stop and you ignore and keep bugging them, it can result in a block.
- If you have a problem, don't repeat it on every staff member's wall unless the problem is truly a level of severity that everyone has to be notified as soon as possible. Since this can be considered spam, please consider the seriousness of the issue when you report it.
- Purposely bugging to annoy someone is even more severe. If this happens you will get 1 warning at first.
Age
- If you reveal that you are less than 13 years old, you will have to be blocked until you turn 13.[note 2] Please note that this rule was not created by this wiki's staff, but is part of Fandom's ToU. If you don't talk about your age, we won't have to enforce this rule.
- As stated in the rule enforcement section below, do not ask other users for their age or any other personal information; it is considered mini-modding.
Wiki accounts
- There generally isn't a named limit on how many Fandom accounts you have, but do not create an excessive amount of accounts as it can be hard to keep track of them.
- Do not share passwords to another person, even if you trust them; this also violates the ToU.
- If you abuse alternate accounts, depending on the situation your alt(s) will be permanently blocked.
- Examples of abusing these accounts includes using them to make extra votes for an important topic, evading a block, or breaking other rules anonymously.
- If you were blocked on an account on this wiki, creating a new identity on a new account to evade a block will result in a permanent block for the sockpuppet account with no chance for appeal, and the original account's ban will be increased and possibly also made infinite if the sockpuppeting continues.
- If you wish to apply for a Staff position on the Mope.io Wiki, it is permissible for alternate accounts to be given staff rights for testing purposes, such as bots. Aside from that, alternate accounts generally are ineligible for staff rights.
Rule-enforcement
- If you are not a member of staff, do not mini-mod by leaving warning/strike messages on the walls of users who break rules. It is normally up to members of staff – primarily admins and bureaucrats – who will enforce the rules of this wiki; normal users should not overstep boundaries. Excessive mini-modding may lead to a block.
- Furthermore, if a warning message is left on the message wall of a user who has broke some rules, commenting on it or making snide remarks is unacceptable, and if the comment is aggressive, it will be deleted.
- To make a report, message an admin or bureaucrat on their message wall, and provide relevant links that show how the user in question has broken the rules. Screenshots are generally not accepted as proof.
Blocking
If a user continously breaks these rules, they will be blocked, preventing them from editing or posting messages. For information on blocking, please refer to the blocking policy.

Footnotes
- ↑ Whenever you upload an image of yourself in-game or any image that is considered contributive, by doing so you implicitly agree to allow that image to be used in articles of this wiki.
- ↑ If you reveal that you live in California or the European Economic Area, legally this is instead defined at 16 years old and you will be blocked accordingly.
