Not to be confused with: Watermelons

The Melon is a food source that was released as part of the Desert update, and spawns in the Desert biome.

Technical[]

  • Melons spawn in the Desert, in small amounts in quicksand/oasis patches as well as in larger quantities in bushes.
  • They give around 1K-3K XP, depending on which tier you are.
    • Only animals from Rattlesnake (tier 9) and above can eat Melons.
  • When eaten, Melons give some water.
  • Melons have Health Bars, and can be eaten in three hits (one hit for Black Dragon).

Not to be confused with: watermelon slices

Melon slices were released along with melons, and can be found and created in the Desert when a melon receives water.

Technical[]

  • They work similar to watermelon slices - spitting water at the whole ones will cause them to break into slices.
    • It takes five water drops (pressing S about five times) for the melon to explode into slices.
  • Slices give around 600 XP, depending on which tier the player is.
  • All animals from Fennec Fox (tier 6) and above can eat them.
  • Melon slices provide more water than whole melons. Since multiple slices are usually spawned, in total they typically give much more water than a whole melon, even with the initial spitting.
  • When a whole melon is watered, anywhere from zero to four slices appear.
  • Melon slices can only be created without player interference when a melon receives enough water in an Oasis or through water drops in a Tornado.

Appearance[]

The melon is an orange, round food with brown stripes and a stem on top. Its appearance resembles a muskmelon. The slice has orange flesh and a green line separating the flesh from the rind. The flesh looks rather like that of a cantaloupe.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike watermelons, melons are a breakable food.
  • They can also spawn in Bushes in the Desert.
  • Previously, the melon bush feature was removed along with the pear bush, but has now been added back to the game.
  • Due to a bug with Tigers creating Bushes with their ability, Melons and Oranges were unable to spawn in bushes, so the only way to find Melons was in Oases and Quicksand patches. This has been fixed.
