Minimap-land

The location of the Land biome on the minimap (inside the red circle).

The Land biome is one of the four main biomes currently existing Mope.io, alongside the Ocean, Arctic and Desert. It is a large land-mass at the center of the map, with many sub-terrain that can house many varieties of animals, and has been around since Mope.io was first released on October 7, 2016.

Technical

Land

The background color of Land.

  • The biome is located at the middle of the map, and is made up primarily of dry Land, with a green grassy color.
  • Lakes and mud patches are two significant terrain forms; about 3 lakes are found in the whole area, and typically around 6/7/8 mud patches.
  • The most abundant food sources are Mushroom species, berries, and it is also common to see various bushes, Berry Bushes.
  • Land-exclusive terrain include:
    • Mud: a patch of brown mud, that is home to multiple food sources. Animals that walk on it will become muddy (with some exceptions), slowing them down. Mud wears off after exiting a mud patch, but will wear off a lot faster if an animal is in water.
    • Beehives and Bees: a type of terrain that can be found in mud patches, and is also edible/able to be physically manipulated. Honey Bees will exit the Beehive if it is damaged by other animals, and sting the destructor.
  • Other common features include hills/rocks and trees. Hills are obstacles that only certain animals can use, and the same applies for trees.
  • There are two other areas in the Land biome that are considered to be sub-biomes: the Volcano and the Amazon Rainforest.

Food and terrain

Food/Terrain name Appearance Notes
Berry BERRY E2 These berries can spawn independently in random locations, but also can be found in clusters near Berry Bushes usually.
Berry Bush A8A0C1CD-326B-4EEF-969E-B78094521763
Not to be confused with: Bushes or Mushroom Bushes

Can be found in many random locations, house berries, and appear as tiny red dots on the minimap.

Water WATER5 Lava-drinking animals and the Pterodactyl cannot eat water. Water will mostly appear around Water Spots.
Water spots WATER999 Water drops will generate at water spots.
Hiding Hole or Cave BigHole Large hiding holes, or 'caves', are accessible for all animals. It should also not be confused with whirlpools, a similar structure that have different appearances and only spawn in the Ocean.
Small hiding hole Hole Small hiding holes are different to large hiding holes, as they can only be used by animals that are tier 1-6.[1]
Hill Hill Hills can only be used by certain animals. Refer to the main article for a list of them.
Rock Rock Rocks can only be used by certain animals. Refer to the main article for a list of them.
Lake LakeObstacle2 Not to be confused with the Poison Lake.
Poison Lake Mope-promo7 This is not like a regular Lake; only one Poison lake will spawn on the whole map, and it also has different effects to the regular lake, and poisons animals over time. Refer to the main article for more information.
Coconut Coconut These exclusively spawn on hills, and cannot be found anywhere else.
Banana Banana These exclusively spawn on hills, and cannot be found anywhere else.
Beehive Beehive This type of terrain can spawn in mud spots, but are also edible and will give XP after eaten (takes 100 hits from the average animal). Honey Bees will attempt to attack any other animal that touches the hive, and can also hide in it when they aren't occupied.
Bush Bush
Not to be confused with: Berry Bushes or Mushroom Bushes

Bushes that are in the Land biome can create raspberries or pears. For a full list of food that spawns in bushes in the Arctic/Desert, refer to the main article.

Mud MudObstacle2 Per the minimap, there are usually about three mud patches on each side (divided by rivers) on the Land biome. Refer to the main article to see food that is generated in mud.
River Snowman3 Even though these are commonly used by Ocean animals, and their purpose is mostly to be used by aquatic creatures, due to the placing of Rivers on the minimap, they are considered to be a part of the Land biome.
Caves Caveland Like Hiding holes, caves are usable by all animals, excluding black dragon and king dragon. They act as normal but if out of air, your health bar will slowly be reduced. Also, unlike holes, you can collide with other players and predators cannot kill prey once inside one.

Animals

Main article: Tiers

Tier 1

MouseBeta Mouse
The Mouse is the first animal that can be chosen in the Land biome. Its only ability is to climb trees, and does so at a slow pace.

Tier 2

New Rabbit Rabbit
The Rabbit is the second animal that spawns in the Land biome. It can move as fast as a Pig in the mud, however it cannot dive in the mud. They can't be tail-bitten, as they do not have a tail, and by pressing W, which creates a hiding-hole that can last for 20 seconds if unused.
Pigeon Pigeon
The Pigeon is another of the second animal options for the Land biome. It has a flying ability, as when you click W, and keeps flying if you keep holding the key, but slowly stops flying after a matter of time. However, the cooldown time is 8 seconds if on land, but only 4 seconds if on a hill.

Tier 3

Newmole Mole
The Mole is one of the two tier 3 Land animals that can be chosen in the Land biome. By holding W, it can dig underground, similarly to diving under water. Moles cannot boost when digging.
Chicken Chicken
The Chicken is one of the two tier 3 Land animals that can be chosen in the Land biome. Chickens can climb trees and hills, at a slow rate. They also have a sprinting ability like the Shrimp and Desert Rat, but it is a Special Ability too, and can be activated at the user's request.

Tier 4

Piggy Pig
The Pig is a fourth animal for the land biome, and moves swiftly in mud. It has a 'Stink Cloud' ability, by pressing W, which creates a brown cloud that makes the animal lose health and say "YUCK!". This works on all animals from tier 1-tier 12, and also will affect anyone inside a hiding hole/whirlpool. Pigs can move fast in water, mud, and can dive in both of them.
Woodpecker Woodpecker
The Woodpecker is another fourth animal for the land biome, and has a Fly/Peck ability by pressing W. It can Fly by using the ability on a hill, and can Peck by pressing W on land, causing stunning and slight damage. The peck is a very short-ranged ability.

Tier 5

New deer Deer
The Deer is the fifth animal that can be chosen in the Land biome. By holding W, it can dig for food when on dry land. The ability can produce any combination of food, mainly mushrooms and berries. Richer pickings are often found in mud.

Tier 6

Newfox Fox
The Fox is one of the sixth animals that can be chosen in the Land biome. By activating its ability, the Fox can kick animals out of hiding holes, causing them to be stunned and exit the hole, unable to enter for a few seconds. The effect works on all animals within Mouse and Crocodile tier. It can climb trees, but does so at a slow pace.
Newhedgehog Hedgehog
The Hedgehog is another one of the sixth animals that can be chosen in the Land biome. By holding the W key, the Hedgehog can puff up and stun other animals with its quills, and cause them to be kept a distance away from it.
Peacock Peacock
The Peacock is one of the sixth animals that can be chosen in the Land biome. They can climb hills. On low ground, the Peacock can hypnotise animals; prey will be stunned and pulled towards the Peacock and predators will be pushed away. The effect works on all animals within Rabbit and Cheetah tier.

Tier 7

Newzebra Zebra
The Zebra is one of the seventh animals that can be chosen in the Land Biome. By holding the W key, the Zebra can do a sideways kick. it is an alternative to the Donkey, lengthening the range of the kick to the sides, but decreasing that of the centre of the tail. Animals that are close to your tail or kick range when kicking are damaged, stunned and pushed back strongly.
Newdonkey Donkey
The Donkey is another one of the seventh animals that can be chosen in the Land Biome. By holding the W key, the Donkey can kick animals that are close enough to its tail, damaging them, stunning them and pushing them back strongly. One advantage that the Donkey has against the Zebra, is the fact that it can move quite fast in the mud, and dive in it. However, after diving the Donkey will move much slower when covered in mud.
Red Macaw Macaw
The Macaw is another one of the seventh animals that can be chosen in the Land Biome. By holding the W key while you're on a hill or a tree, the Macaw can disguise itself as a random animal (including AIs) to trick its preys and predators and if you to stop holding the W key or some ability affects you while you are in disguise, you will immediately stop being in disguise, but you will release a grunt saying (CAAAAWWW), creating a shockwave around you that stuns those who touch it, giving you a chance to escape. If you hold the W without being on a hill or in a tree, you will simply start flying.

Tier 8

New Cobra Cobra
The Cobra is one of the eighth animals to spawn in the Land biome. By pressing W, the Cobra will be able to shoot venom, poisoning animals that aren't immune to poison, and will say, "HISSSSS!" The Cobra is also fast in mud/quicksand and can climb trees.
Newgiraffe Giraffe
The Giraffe is one of the eighth animals to spawn in the Land biome. By pressing W, the Giraffe will stomp anyone in front of its path, stunning them for a few seconds and causing damage. There will be about 3 stomps with one foot, and a double stomp with both feet at the end of the ability.

Tier 9

Newest Cheetah Cheetah
The Cheetah is one of the ninth animals that can be chosen in the Land biome. When its ability is activated, the Cheetah will receive a quick boost, which has a recharge time of approximately 8 seconds. It can also climb on trees.
Newgorilla Gorilla
The Gorilla is another one of the ninth animals that can spawn in the Land biome. It can climb trees and hills, and when one one, can throw a type of food at animals by pressing W, stunning and causing damage for prey. The ability will only work when on a hill/tree.
New Toucan 0 Toucan
The Toucan is also one of the ninth animals within the Land biome. Like the Gorilla, it can climb trees and hills. When holding W, it will fly and land when the player lets go of that key. If the Toucan last flew from a spot containing a source of food, it will throw that food upon landing like the Gorilla.

Tier 10

New Bear Bear
The Bear is the tenth animal spawning option for the Land Biome. By pressing W, the Bear uses a Claw Slash ability, scratching any animal in front of it and stunning it. The Bear is immune to the Honey Bee's stinger's effects, and can climb hills and trees.
New Tiger Tiger
The Tiger is the tenth animal spawning option for the Land Biome. By pressing W, the Tiger uses its Ambush Attack ability, giving it a boost and causing it to grab any animal, stun and damage it for a few seconds. If the W key is held, the Tiger will generate a brown-colored bush. They can move fairly fast in water, and can climb hills and trees.

Tier 11

TODAY LION Lion
The Lion is the eleventh animal spawning option for the Land Biome. By pressing W, it roars, saying 'ROARRR!' and stunning any animal within its radius. Lions can also climb trees.
New Croc Crocodile
The Crocodile is another tier 11 Land-spawning animal. By pressing W, the Crocodile uses its 'Bite Drag' ability, similar to the T-Rex's ability, and stuns and drags any animal in front of it, dragging it from side to side. It can move quickly in water and mud, and can eat carcasses.
New Falcon Falcon
The Falcon also is another one of the eleventh animal spawning options for the Land Biome. By pressing W, it starts a Dive Attack ability, starting flying up, with a crosshair following below the Falcon. When you click on an area, the crosshair will lock onto that place and it will dive and swoop, stunning if there is an animal where the crosshair was. It also has the ability to climb hills.

Tier 12

New Rhinoceros Rhino
The Rhino is one of the 12th animals that spawns in the Land biome. It can move fast in water bodies, and is able to move fast/dive in mud too. When the Rhino activates its special ability, it will charge with its horn and damage prey, also causing quite a bit of knockback.
Newer Eagle Eagle
The Eagle is another one of the 12th animals that spawns in the Land biome. It can climb hills and trees. By activating its special ability, it will start flying a short distance above ground. If the Eagle comes into contact with prey, the prey will be carried away into the sky and the Eagle will fly higher. When dropped, prey will receive a slight sliver of damage, be stunned and immobilised for a few seconds.

Tier 13

Hippo-0 Hippo
The Hippo is one of the 13th animals that spawns in the Land biome. By pressing W, it groans saying 'GROANNNNN!' and stuns any animal within its radius for about 3 seconds. It moves quickly in mud and water, and immune to the river's effect.
BoaConstrictor Boa Constrictor
The Boa Constrictor is one of the 13th animals that spawns in the Land biome. By pressing W, it suffocates the animal in front of it and drag them side to side like a Crocodile. It moves slowly in water, can climb hills and trees and is able to dive/move fast in mud.
Ostrich Ostrich
The Ostrich is one of the 13th animals that spawns in the Land biome. By pressing W, it lays an egg that later hatches into a baby ostrich, and if you aim a crosshair at a location, the ostrich babies will immediately follow that Crosshair. If the crosshair is aimed at an animal, it will lock onto the animal, allowing the Ostrich babies to continously follow the animal.

Tier 14

Newelephant Elephant
The Elephant is one of the 14th Land animals. It can move fast in mud, and survive in the Desert without burning periodically. Its special ability is to 'Trunk Slap'; animals will be damaged and recoil slightly as a result of being slapped. It also can damage prey, and food sources, unlike other animals post-Golden Age.
GiantSpider Giant Spider
The Giant Spider is one of the 14th animals that spawns in the Land biome. It is able to climb hills and trees. When you press W, the giant spider will start to spin a web that grows in size. If you press W again, the Giant Spider drops the web. Webs can go over any surface, and the smaller they are, the more transparent. When prey comes into contact with a web, they will be temporarily immobilised until the web wears off. Large prey and inedible Low Tier Animals will not be able to climb on the web, and instead will be pushed back and cannot use their Special Abilities. Also, Giant Spiders with more XP will be able to generate larger webs.
Cassowary Cassowary
The Cassowary is one of the 14th animals that spawns in the Land biome. By holding W, it can start up a charge and will kick when letting go of W. This charge will cause the cassowary to speed up, and can be easily manoeuvred. It also will not stop charging if damaged by a predator.

Tier 15

Dragonnew Dragon
The Dragon is the fifteenth animal spawning option for the Land biome. By pressing W, it creates a single ball of fire, and has a fairly quick cooldown. The Dragon is immune to the Squid's Ink ability, and can swim in lava, and it also immune to the river's effect. It has a passive ability allowing it to fly, meaning the Dragon's movement speed will be consistent over all surfaces/terrains.
New Trex T-REX
The T-Rex is the fifteenth animal spawning option for the Land biome. By pressing W, the T-Rex uses its 'Jaw-Bite' ability, which drags any animal in front of them, causing them to bleed and make meat. It is immune to ink, and can eat carcasses and bones.
Thebigfoot The BigFoot
The BigFoot is the fifteenth animal spawning option for the Land biome, and also the first to spawn exclusively in the Amazon Rainforest. By pressing, W, it throws a spear, causing any animals to bleed for about 6 seconds. If you hold W, it creates a fire, which can even be created on water. It can be bought in the shop for 30,000 Mope Coins, or you can get it by luck with a slim chance of 1/1000.

Tier 16

D No Monster Dino Monster
The Dino Monster is the 16th animal that can be chosen in the Land biome. It can climb hills, and move fast in mud. By pressing W it can charge, knock and damage animals. After damaging them on ground for a few seconds, they will be thrown high into the air and receive extra damage when landing back on ground. Now there is a current glitch that if you spam space while being tossed, you will fly twice as far and escape easily.

Tier 17

Blackdragon Black Dragon
The Black Dragon is 17th Lava/Land animal, and one of the final animals to pick. It has the passive ability to fly over everything, meaning movement speed is consistent, no matter what terrain the Black Dragon is on. By pressing W, the Black Dragon can also shoot two large fire balls, which turns into three once you reach 20 million XP. However, when two Black Dragons/King Dragons are near each other, they will lose some health and lava periodically, and won't be able to use Healing Stones.
KingDragon King Dragon
The King Dragon is the other 17th Lava/Land animal and another one of the final animals to pick. It can be achieved by killing all apex animals, monsters, and another Black Dragon (not including The BigFoot and The Snowman), or instead can appear instead of the Black Dragon, but there is only a 1/1000 chance that this will happen. Like the Black Dragon, it flies over everything. It also has the special ability to shoot fire by pressing W, but it is much more powerful and is referred to as a 'fire stream', due to there being a countless quantity of fireballs, but takes away some xp. By pressing S, the King Dragon can also do a tail-slap ability like the Blue Whale, which will inflict severe damage and if not an instant kill, a lot of recoil. However, when two Black Dragons/King Dragons are near each other, they will lose some health and lava periodically, and won't be able to use Healing Stones. There can only be one King Dragon on a server. If another one spawns, the two are forced into a 1v1.

AI

HoneyBeee Honey Bee
Honey Bees, most commonly referred to as 'Bees', are artificially-controlled creatures that spawn from a Beehive. They are constantly flying, much like the Dragon and Black Dragon, but fly extremely slow over hills and rocks. If another animal touches a Beehive, Honey Bees will come outside of it and attempt to sting that animal, by extending their stinger and lunging backwards at the animal. After having stung, the Honey Bee will lose health periodically for approximately 5 seconds, before attempting to sting again (if it hasn't already died).
Frog Frog
The Frog is another AI animal from the Land biome, which spawns and commonly lives at rivers. It has the ability to hop around, which gives a brief increase in speed. Frogs often do this when attacked by a predator. They also presumably have a water bar, and are able to die of thirst if deprived from water. Also, Frogs will automatically dive whenever entering a body of water. This protects them from all damage except for damage delivered via a special ability.

Sub-biomes

Volcano

BD2

A Black Dragon on the Volcano.

Main article: Volcano

The Volcano is a sub-biome within Land, that was added on April 9, 2017. On the minimap, it appears as a large red circle, and is right in the center of the Land biome.. It contains dark brownish land, with big lava puddles surrounding the center of the Volcano. Hills and trees also modestly populate this area. Currently, the Phoenix, Land Monster and Black Dragon belong, and will spawn in this biome.

TimberLand

Minimap-rainforest

The Amazon Rainforest on the minimap (circled in red).

Mope-promo11

The BigFoot standing on trees in the Amazon Rainforest.

Main article: TimberLand

TimberLand, formerly referred to as the Amazon Rainforest, is the second sub-biome within Land, and was added on March 3, 2020. It is distinctively portrayed as a darker shade of green in comparison to the rest of the Land biome. Unlike the Volcano, it has no given location, but will most likely be found on one of the four corners of Land (this differs depending on your server). For the most part, it is identical to the rest of Land, however, it has a great deal more trees in comparison, all of which typically are right next to each other to allow animals to walk from tree to tree in real time. As of now, the only animals that will specifically spawn in this sole area every time are the Kakapo, Raven, and BigFoot. However, there may be more in future, according to the developers.

Trivia

  • The Land biome was the first biome that was added to the game.
  • It is the only biome that has any sub-biomes, except for the Arctic, which has the Arctic Volcano.

Footnotes

  1. ā†‘ It should be noted that exceptions to this rule include the Cobra, Blackwidow Spider and Giant Spider, all of which are able to use small hiding holes despite being above tier 6.
