Mope.io Wiki

Due to the in-game chat feature and through Social Media, various unique terms and lingo have formed among the Mope.io community. This list includes abbreviations, acronyms, and particular phrases that are commonly used by Mope.io players. The list is in alphabetical order: chat phrases are in double quotations.

Terms with a superscript have more than one definition.

0–9[]

"1"
Requesting a tail-bite from another player in chat. Also spoken as "1 pls", "1 bite", among other forms.
1 hour luck challenge
A MopeTube challenge where a player rarefarms for an hour to see how many rares and/or how rare of a species they can obtain in the alotted time. May use a point system where rarer rares give more points.
1v11
The 1v1 arena, in which two animals that are within Tiers tier 15 to tier 17 are able to battle each other to the death in an enclosed arena. May be specified as "1v1 arena" or "arena" to not confuse with the below definition.
1v12
May also refer to an informal version of the above, where two apexes of the same tier fight each other in the same way, but outside of the limits of the 1v1 arena. Unlike the prior, informal 1v1s cannot be done between two apexes of a different tier, e.g. a tier 15 and tier 16 animal , as the predatory system will only deactivate in the actual 1v1 arena. Also called out-of-arena 1v1.
1v13
Rarely used to refer to 1v1 Redemption, a game mode similar to 1v1 where the player battles AI bosses rather than a fellow player. Now essentially defunct.
1v14
May rarely refer to both 1v1 Redemption and the 1v1 arena, although typically clarified when it does.
"1v1"
Requesting to 1v1 with another player.
1v1 bot
A type of script where a bot fights for the player, typically by always aiming for the tail.
1v1er
Someone who focuses on the 1v1 aspect of the game. Also called a pvper.
1v1 Event
Events where many players 1v1 until only one player remains, or may be more informal as a test of general skill. In developer events, the victor may be rewarded. Somewhat synonymous with King Dragon event due to the auto arena.
1v1 Tournament
Synonym for 1v1 event, but may refer to the official 1v1 tournaments that were held in the past with in-game rewards.
3AM
Abbreviation of 3AM Experiences; the company that currently owns and develops Mope.io.

A[]

Abuse
Exploiting an aspect of a game for one's personal gain, such as animals or bugs. Typically used as a suffix, for example "god mode abuse", "Donkey abuse", etc.
Addicting Games era
Referring to the timeframe of the game when it was under the ownership of Addicting Games. The Addicting Games era began when it acquired Mope.io from Clickstan in September 2020, and ended in August 2024, when Mope.io was acquired from them by 3AM Experiences. Many players associate this era to the decline of the game’s popularity.
AG
Acronym of Addicting Games
Amazon Rainforest
An older name given to the Forest.
Animal abuse
Exploiting an animal's abilities and properties to troll or kill other players. The abuse is named after the animal (e.g Donkey abuse).
Apex1
Short for apex list, a list of animals a Black Dragon needs to kill to upgrade into King Dragon. This is the term most commonly referred by Black Dragons in chat ("for apex").
Apex2
Tier 15, tier 16, and tier 17 animals needed for the apex list, usually excluding Snowman, Bigfoot, and Snowgirl.
Apex3
More informally, any tier 15 animal.
Arena
The physical, enclosed space in 1v1s where two animals at or above Apex tier are able to battle each other to the death.
Artist1
A person who creates art of Mope.io subjects.
Artist2
Any person who creates Mope.io's game art. Often erroneously mistaken as developers. "Artist" currently usually refers to the official art team, such as Shaun Goodwin, Magic Shork, and others.
Asset
An image used in Mope.io to represent items such as food and animals. Often referred as the game files.
Auto Arena
The automatic 1v1 that Black Dragons and King Dragons are put into when there are 8 or more on the server or more than one, respectively.

B[]

Balanced
A feature that is neither too strong/overpowered or weak/underpowered when compared to other features.
Balancing
The act of making a feature less powerful or stronger to compare with other features.
BD
The initials for the Black Dragon.
Beachball farming
The process of finding and scoring beachballs in hiding holes/whirlpools for coins.
Bee
Short for Honey Bee.
Beta
Short for Beta Mope.io, a Game Mode almost identical to live Mope.io (FFA) except that upcoming features are often exclusively available on Beta prior to their mainstream release, often for testing purpose. Beta is not always usable. Accessible at https://beta.mope.io
Beta Tester.
Someone who has been selected by a developer to assist in testing upcoming features before their mainstream release. While some players such as Mopetubers have been granted Beta Tester privileges, the only person that has had the official role of "Beta Tester" is Dreamer. More or less obsolete by general testers.
Betrayer
Someone who turns against their team, whether or not they actually did.
"Bite"
A phrase meaning that a player has allowed another specific player to bite their tail, often in response to "1".
Black Dragon teammate
An ally to a Black Dragon who helps them with their apex list. They may also help them kill prey.
Blackwidow
Short for Blackwidow Spider.
Boa
Short for Boa Constrictor.
Boa trolling
A less common troll with the Boa Constrictor. It typically comes in two forms: (1) using its Constrict ability at the edges of trees to annoy passing players; (2) using its Constrict ability on the beach to drag Ocean animals out of the Ocean and onto dry land.
Bot
A type of program that automatically does an action, often giving the player an advantage. Well known bots include coin and 1v1 bots. Widely considered to be hacks by the community.
"Bot"
Accusing a player of using a 1v1 bot or playing robotically. May be erroneous.
Botting1
The act of using bots during gameplay.
Botting2
More specifically, can mean using bots (particularly mouse bots) to artificially fill servers and cause lag.
BS
The initials and tag of former Mopetuber Blue Sky. Sometimes memed as a swear word because it shares the abbreviation.
Buff1
The opposite of nerfing, a buff is the process of the developers balancing an animal or feature by making it more powerful or more viable.
Buff2
Alternate name for the now-removed powerups.
BW
Initials for Blackwidow Spider. Infrequently used.

C–E[]

Camper
Someone who frequently camps; often used as an insult in the chat.
Camping
The practice of a predator waiting outside a hiding spot that is occupied by prey to prevent the prey from escaping or accessing water, often for an elongated time. Usually frowned upon when taken to extremes.
Christmas update
Updates which occur around Christmas time (December 25), and add temporary special features such as the Christmas Foods, decorations for trees, etc. Christmas updates are typically reversed the following January. The most recent Christmas update was on December 25, 2024, and lasted until January 25, 2025.
Coin bot
A bot that automatically goes to the exact coordinates of Mopecoins on the map, paired with a coin hack (see below).
Coin hack
A type of script that shows the player the exact coordinates of Mopecoins on the map, sometimes by speaking it in chat.
Commands
Certain strings entered in chat starting with either a forward slash or a colon that affect certain parts of the game. The only known public command is /anim-switch.
Community
The playerbase of Mope.io, along with people who relate themselves to the game and interact with others who do. Many members of the community can be found active on the official Social Media platforms.
Crash1
Disconnecting from the server suddenly, often in regards to a server crash
Crash2
Short for a server crash
Cross-teaming
Two or more teams allying with each other. May merge into one team.
DC
Short for disconnect; can be used as a verb (e.g "I dced from the server").
Death lake
Another name for the poison lake. May also be written as "deathlake"
Defender
A person who largely moonwalks in a 1v1.
Deffer
An insult describing a defender.
Deffing
A person who is moonwalking or protecting their tail in a 1v1. Used as an insult.
Dev
Short for developer.
Developer
Any person who develops and alters the game code of Mope.io, adding and removing features. Artists are often confused as developers. See Developers for the current list of developers.
Dino1
Abbreviation of the Dino Monster.
Dino2
Abbreviation for the T-REX; it used less commonly, though the T-REX's official name at one time was once "The Dino".
Dino Mon
Short for Dino Monster.
Donkey trolling
A type of troll used by the Donkey and especially its rare Jackass abusing its kick ability to damage and stun large predators going after it. Often used to kill apexes due to its effectiveness.
Drag
Short for Dragon.
Dragon-tier
Refers to tier 15 (apex tier).
Event1
An official occasion by a developer, using commands to either mess around with the playerbase or for a purpose, and are typically livestreamed. May be called developer events to not confuse with the below term.
Event2
May refer also to unofficial occasions hosted by well known members of the community, such as 1v1 events.
EXP
An alternative, less common form of "XP", which itself is an abbreviated form of the word "experience".
"EZ"
Abbreviation of the term "easy", said after killing a player by some people to indicate that they were easy to kill. Commonly used as an insult, regardless of a player's skill. Typically written in lowercase.

F–K[]

Farmer
Someone who levels up through farming (usually food). Can imply that the player's techniques for leveling up are from lack of skill rather than by choice.
Farming
Leveling up through methods that usually don't involve killing other players for their XP such as continuously consuming certain food sources. Though it can also refer to a consistent method of gaining XP, e.g. farming 1v1 kills.
FF
Refers to the Frankfurt server regions.
"For apex"
Varies slightly in context. From a Black Dragon, usually a request to level up or kill another player for their apex list. From other animals, means that they are sacrificing themselves for a Black Dragon's apex list.
Forest update
Referring to the March 3, 2020 update which introduced the Forest biome, and added various other features such as Bigfoot.
Game files
The official files in which skins and assets for Mope.io are stored. Individual asset files usually begin with the prefix "https://mope.io/assets", and some exclusive files for scrapped features can only be accessed by developers or designers.
GE
An acronym for the Golden Eagle, a rare variant of the Eagle.
Geagle
A lesser common abbreviation for Golden Eagle. May be spelled as "GEagle".
Ghost bugs
Versions of the god mode bugs (see below) where the player is immune to damage from other players and instead goes "over" or through them. The player may be unable to eat food or drink. All known instances were fixed in 2020.
God mode
A command exclusive to those with developer powers that makes them unable to be damaged or deplete their water/lava/energy bar.
God mode bugs
A series of bugs making the player immune to all damage, discovered around 2018 and gaining significant prominence over the next two years. It was most commonly activated using the Pterodactyl's special ability. All known instances of the god mode bug were fixed by August 2020.
Golden Age
Referring to the update on December 23, 2019, officially dubbed the "Golden Age" update by KOA. It is considered to be the start of the Season 1 era, introducing Season 1 skins, aesthetic skins, and the Shop.
Gorilla Trolling
An older type of troll with the Gorilla using its ability on hills or trees to throw fruit at other animals. Most common near the Volcano.
GS
An acronym for Greater Spotted Eagle, formerly known as Golden Shahbaz, the rarest variant of the Eagle.
Hack
A type of script that takes advantage of a vulnerability to unfairly give the player an advantage. Hacks are bannable. Synonymous with cheat.
High-definition skins
Refers to the Season 1-style skins, which have a more detailed design than the Classic skins, but not as much as the Season 2 ultra high-definition skins. Some players mistakenly call the Season 2 skins "high-definition"; the Season 2 skins are known as "ultra high-definition" (UHD).
Ice
Short for Ice Monster. May also refer to the terrain depending on context.
Ice Mon
Another abbreviation of "Ice Monster".
Impersonator
A player who copies another person's in-game name. Occurs often with Mopetubers.
Island farming
The act of going from island to island to eat its food, especially its conches. Most commonly done with the Dragon and Sea Monster.
Jack
Short for jack-o-lantern, a variant of the soccer pumpkin.
KD1
Initials for King Dragon. Usually referred in lowercase.
KD2
Initials for Komodo Dragon. Much less frequently used than King Dragon.
King Dragon event
A type of developer event where all players are made into King Dragons. Because of the game's auto arena, in King Dragon events, all players will be forced to 1v1 until only one player survives.
KOA
King Of Agario, a former member of the developer team from 2017 to 2024. Also spelled as "KoA".
KOA Event
Events livestreamed by King Of Agario, using his developer powers to test game concepts and have fun with the playerbase (often by turning players into other animals), and switching servers after a while. When active, a server would often reach the player limit in the server KOA was in.
KOA Livestream
Sometimes interchanged with KOA Event, but usually refers more to the actual livestream on YouTube as opposed to KOA's in-game doings during the event. The last livestream for Mope.io was on July 30, 2023.
Komodo
Short for Komodo Dragon.
Krak
Short for Kraken.

L–N[]

Land1
The Land biome; the largest biome in Mope.io, which encompasses the Volcano and Forest. Sometimes also erroneously referred to as the "Forest" or "Grassland" biome.
Land2
The gridded ground devoid of hills, rocks, water, etc. Also referred to as "dry land" compared to water.
Land3
Short for the Land Monster.
Leak
An unintended reveal of sensitive information, usually assets that have not been officially released yet. Most leaks that are not developer-endorsed are swiftly deleted.
Leaking
The act of revealing sensitive information publicly, typically unreleased assets or gameplay features. Mostly frowned upon.
Live Mope
Refers to the main game (https://mope.io), i.e. FFA. This term is typically used in contrast to Beta Mope.io.
Logged-in
Playing Mope.io while logged in with an account.
Logged-out
Playing Mope.io while logged out of an account. Logged-out players cannot earn coins, purchase Shop skins, or use the chat feature.
Luck name
A particular name, phrase, or keyword that is erroneously stated to increase the chances of getting rares or a specific rare.
Mini
A player, usually who is playing as a rare animal, that allows themselves to have their tail bitten to reduce their XP-count and prevent them from upgrading. The phenomenon's name is due to a side-effect of losing XP being that an animal's size will decrease to the point that it will become smaller than a tier 1 animal at 0 XP.
Mod
Short for game modification, as in changing an aspect of the game for one's gameplay. Ranges from cosmetic to quality of life to unfairly advantageous for the user, in which they can be considered hacks.
Modder
A person who modifies the game to create mods.
Modpack
A bundled together series of mods created by and generally maintained by members of the community (usually modders). Modpacks are not officially endorsed, and some may be bannable depending on the exact mods they have. Some modpacks, such as the Teddy Bear modpack, are well known in the community.
"Modpack user"
A person using a modpack. Frequently used to accuse another player of cheating in a similar way to "bot".
Moonwalking
A 1v1 move, the act of moving backwards while facing the opposite direction.
Mope
Shorter form of "Mope.io"
Mope v2
Referring to the upcoming update that will entirely rewrite the code of Mope.io. Planned as phase 2 of the roadmap for development. It is anticipated to enter private testing mode soon.
Moper
A person that plays Mope.io. May refer to the general community.
Mopecord
The official Mope.io Discord server.
Mopecorder
A person on Mopecord.
Mopecordian
Lesser used term for Mopecorder, often in a jocular context.
Mopetube
The name given to the YouTube community of Mope.io, formed predominantly by Mopetubers.
Mopetuber
A YouTuber who plays and uploads videos of Mope.io, often exclusively. It can also describe YouTubers who uploaded Mope.io videos in the past but no longer do.
Mouse bot
A type of bot that spawns in as a Mouse and usually heads toward a specific coordinate on the map. Many mouse bots tend to be used at once, filling up player slots and causing lag. Very predominant in 2024 and 2023, but now non-existent.
MPS
Acronym of the Mope Police Squad; players that had been given mod powers to ban hackers. MPS has not been active since 2022.
N
The initial and tag of Mopetuber Nation, who is currently affiliated with 3AM Experiences as a shareholder of Mope.io.
Nerf
The opposite of buffing, it is the process of the developers balancing an animal or feature by making it less powerful or less viable.
Nest
A large collection of Giant Spider webs at one place.
NH
The initials and tag of the Mopetuber NoobHimself.
Noob
An inexperienced or unskilled player. Commonly used as an insult, regardless of the player's skill level.
Normal Shahbaz
Used to differentiate the Harpy Eagle from the Greater Spotted Eagle when they were named Shahbaz and Golden Shahbaz respectfully.

O–R[]

OP
Acronym for "overpowered." Refers to an animal or feature that is too powerful and causes imbalance to the game. Often, OP animals will be subject to nerfs due to community demand and criticism.
Paki
Referring to the now-removed Pakistani variants of either the Macaw, Toucan, or Vulture (replaced by the Spix's Macaw, Helmeted Hornbill and Argentavis, respectively). Due to the game's chat filter, the word is censored as ****.
Pay-to-win animals
Snowman, Snowgirl, and Bigfoot, rare animals that can be bought for coins to be significantly more common (1/10 rather than 1/1000).
Pay-to-win
Refers to anything bought with mopecoins that puts the player at an advantage, especially in reference to the Store-bought animals and the now-removed powerups. Known also as pay-2-win or P2W.
PG
The initials and tag of the Mopetuber Panda Gamer.
Pheo
Shortened form of Phoenix which is frequently misspelled as "Pheonix".
Phoe
Rarer shortening of Phoenix.
Ptero
Short for Pterodactyl.
Pump
Abbreviation of soccer pumpkin.
Pumpkin only challenge
A challenge where the player only gains XP by holding and scoring pumpkins.
Pumpkin farming
The process of finding soccer pumpkins around the map to hold for coin/XP gain, and/or score them in hiding holes.
Pvper
Another term for 1v1er.
Rare
A variant of a particular animal that is not guaranteed, and only appears some of the time. Rares are often sought after due to being more powerful than the common variant, and typically having strengthened abilities. Also known as species.
Rare farming
The process of leveling up to a certain tier repeatedly (usually tier 11 or tier 12) to obtain a particular rare or rares. If a target animal is not available, the player kills themselves, usually by lava or a predator, to grind to that tier again. Often done for gaining coins. May also be done for the 1 hour luck challenge.
Rare event
A type of event where rare, usually powerful species are distributed to players. May require a tag to obtain the rare. Generally synonymous with events in general.
Rare hack
A type of script that greatly increases the chance of or guarantees rares, usually specific, powerful rares. One version was particularly infamous in 2021 before being patched out.
Rare-hunting
The process of actively searching and killing rares, usually the ones that grant coins upon death. This concept is sometimes polarizing within the Mope.io community.
Reddit
Usually refers to the official Mope.io Subreddit, r/mopeio, which is used to share art and make suggestions for new updates.
Rhino stun locking
A type of stun locking using multiple Rhino charges, often with the rare variants. Also used as a more lethal trolling method.
RVJ
Short for RVJ modpack, a well-known modpack in the community.

S1
Abbreviated form of the term "Season 1". See below for definitions.
S2
Abbreviated form of the term "Season 2". See below for definitions.
Scorp
Shortened form of Giant Scorpion.
Scorpion
Shortened form of Giant Scorpion.
Sea1
Abbreviation of Sea Monster.
Sea2
Rare alternate name for the Ocean biome as a whole
Sea3
May also sometimes refer to one half of the Ocean.
Sea Mon
Alternate abbreviation of the Sea Monster.
Season 0
An unofficial/colloquial term used by some within the community to describe the pre-Season 1 era (October 2016 – December 2019).
Season 0 art
Another name for the Classic skins, which were the default skins for all animals from October 30, 2016 until December 23, 2019. They are currently available in the Shop.
Season 1
This term refers to the era of Mope.io which saw the introduction of the Shop, Season 1 skins (also called high-definition [HD] skins), the Addicting Games acquisition. Season 1 began with the "Golden Age" update on December 23, 2019, ended with the start of Season 2 on February 1, 2022. Season 1 art was added back on November 15, 2024. Abbreviated as "S1"
Season 1 art
Art or skins from the Season 1 era or in its general style.
Season 1.5
An unofficial term used to describe the more detailed high-definition skins in the rough latter half of the Season 1 era. What skins count vary significantly among players, although Halloween skins are frequently described as such.
Season 2
This term refers to the era of Mope.io beginning on February 1, 2022, which is considered to be a new ultra-modernized era of the game. Season 2 is mostly known for implementing Season 2 skins (also called ultra high-definition [UHD] skins) for animals, food and terrain, as well as adding back some of the old Game Modes. Season 2 is considered to have ended on November 15, 2024 with the re-addition of Season 1 art. Abbreviated as "S2".
Season 2 Art
Art from the Season 2 era or in its general style.
Season 3
An idea conceived by KOA regarding future updates to Mope.io. Season 3 was scrapped with the return of Season 1 art in November 2024. "Season 3" is also used as a jocular term, especially pertaining to the animal's appearance getting more realistic in reference to the Season 2 art backlash.
Server crash
When a server abruptly disconnects all or most users from a server. May be caused by an automatic restart. A server may be inaccessible temporarily after a crash.
Shah1
Short for King Shah, one of the King Dragon's skins.
Shah2
Short for Shahbaz. Can either mean the regular Shahbaz or Golden Shahbaz, now called the Harpy Eagle and Greater Spotted Eagle, depending on context, but usually means the former.
Shahbazes
Referring to both the Harpy Eagle and Greater Spotted Eagle when they were named Shahbaz and Golden Shahbaz, but may be mean multiple of the Harpy Eagle.
Slices
Can mean either melon or watermelon slices. In most cases, it means watermelon slices.
Solo player
A player who is not in a team. Depending on the person, solo players might be neutral or offensive against teams. Also known as just solo.
Spider
Usually means Giant Spider, but can sometimes mean Blackwidow Spider depending on context.
Stan
Stan Tatarnykov, also known as Clickstan. He created Mope.io, and was its main developer from its creation and release on October 4, 2016, until it was acquired by Addicting Games in September 2020.
Stun locking
The act of keeping an animal in stun duration, particularly exploited by trolls.
Summer update
Normally refers to an update in Mope.io during summer that adds seasonal features, such as Summer Items and/or summer-themed skins. The first Summer update was on July 30, 2021, and the most recent one was on June 28, 2025.

T–Z[]

Tail-biting animals
Animals that can tail-bite with ease. The Gazelle, Warthog, Tiger, Vulture, and Phoenix are the most infamous ones in the community for their Special Abilities.
Tag
A label that players add to the beginning of their name in square brackets, curly brackets, parentheses, and other symbols, often to symbolize a team they are in or support for a Mopetuber. For example: "[N]" or "(N)" is a tag signifying support for Nation.
Team
A band of at least 2 players who cooperate together. Teaming can have several motives, such as overall increased survivability, stopping a different team, trying to dominate the server, or pretending to do so to betray the team later. Often frowned upon in the community.
Teamer1
A player who is in a team at any point in time.
Teamer2
A player who often teams when playing Mope.io.
"Teamer"3
Used commonly as an insult/accusation in the chat when someone kills or damages the health of another player with the help of a third party, whether the third party is mutually allied with the attacking player or not.
Teammate
An ally in a team.
Teaming
The act of cooperating with one or more other players.
Thanksgiving update
Referring to the update on November 26, 2020. It is known for adding the Turkey and White Giraffe.
Timberland
Another name for Forest.
Trolling
The practice of trying to irritate other players in-game, sometimes as an unconventional way of killing them and gaining their XP. Usually done with animals that have certain Special Abilities that cause disruption, particularly rares. However, non-rare animals also can be used effectively for trolling.
Troll
Someone who trolls other players.
Toucan trolling
A type of troll exclusive to the Toucan that involves flying from trees or bushes and landing in the direction of another player to hit them with an item. Coconuts are very commonly used due to their increased stun time and damage, thus making Toucan trolling prevalent near beaches.
"Toxic"
Said to a person who displays bad sportsmanship, such as insulting a player they just killed. Often used erroneously.
Turkey1
Refers to the Turkey, a tier 9 animal that spawns in the Forest biome.
Turkey2
Refers to the Thanksgiving Food, the Baked Turkey. It may also refer, although less commonly, to the removed food, the Turkey Leg.
UI Update1
The October 14, 2021 update that changed the user interface (UI) of the upgrade menu. This update was negatively received by most players, who preferred the old upgrade menu's UI.
UI Update2
The October 21, 2021 update, which was largely a response to the preceding October 14 UI update. It changed the upgrade menu's UI to make it take up less of the screen, which was received better than the October 14 update.
Ultra high-definition skins
Refers to the skins and assets from Season 2, which are very detailed in their design. Acronym: UHD skins
Veteran
In the context of Mope.io, a veteran is a person who has played the game since around the time it was first released (October 4, 2016). There is not a universally accepted definition. Generally someone who started playing before mid-2017 is considered a veteran player of Mope.io.
Wallburn
The action of being hurt by the red closing wall in 1v1s. Also spelled with a space as wall burn.
Wallhug
The action of purposely touching the wall with an animal for prolonged durations. Its purpose varies from refusal to fight the other animal or as a baiting strategy.
Wallhugger
A person who wallhugs or stays in close proximity to the wall in a 1v1 to trick the opponent into crashing into the wall for damage.
"What apex?"
Either asking a nearby Black Dragon what animals are left to kill to achieve King Dragon, or asking what animal should the player be to assist in the apex list.
Widow
Short for Blackwidow Spider. Rarely used.
Winter1
A rarely-used alternate name for the Arctic biome.
Winter2
Referring to the various Winter Events. Most commonly referring to the most recent winter event (the most recent one as of now is the winter event that added rares like the Snowgirl and Shahbaz).
Zebra trolling
The Zebra version of the Donkey troll. Not as prevalent due to its more sideways oriented ability.
