It's essential to have a sufficient animal path when playing Mope.io. For example, some biomes have food sources which provide substantial XP, so choosing those animals would benefit.
To Apex Tier[]
1. Here's my animal path to get to apex on normal circumstances (no rares, huge kills, or features):
- Mouse - Chicken; Berry (spit water at mushrooms) and Carrot farming.
- Armadillo - Gazelle; cactus pear and Mango farming.
- Fennec Fox - Gobi Bear; Use
S
key to spit water at Watermelon for slices. - Rhino; Frog farming with ability
- Komodo Dragon; Cactus, Aloevera, and other Oasis food farming
- Blue Whale or Elephant; one-shot Frogs or Snails
2. My animal path to 1M
- Mouse - Chicken; Eat berries (spit water at mushrooms) and farm carrots in mud.
- Armadillo - Gazelle; Eat cactus pear and Mango.
- Then use Jellyfish to snack on tasty kelp.
- Muskox - Wolf; Farm nuts, pears and red mushrooms at an arctic pond. Also grab tasty ducks.
- Crocodile and Rhino; Farm frogs with your abilities.
- Komodo Dragon; Devour Cactus, Aloevera, and eat melons and peppers in oasises. You can also use Hippo to keep farming ducks and frogs. But, Killerwhale is also a great choice. Use it's wave abilty to wash food off islands and stun snails.
- Blue Whale or Elephant; swim along the rivers and one-shot Frogs. Also try ducks and snails. Plus, if you're a blue whale, use your ability to smack delicious food off islands.
As an Apex[]
The best animal to pick at apex tier is King Crab or Snowman (According to statistics of the Community). Actually they're really good, because of damage they're making. King Crab can go onto land, and Snowman isn't burning outside of arctic.
Which Apex To Choose[]
Whatever apex tier (recommendations below), usually Dragon to island farm. Each apex has their own positive side, like the kraken, which can suck in the loot on islands for farming, if you want to defend yourself or get kills, use t-rex, if anyone gets close to you, you know what to do. yeti's defence is impenetrable, it can also farm kills, and Phoenix is for purely offence, it has an upgraded ability of the dragon basically, and it now does not lose lava in the desert, if you don't boost, which is good for farming cacti, and you can also smash the other apex classes by pounding at their health from a distance, and also can easily defeat ice monsters and yetis due to extra damage. With Pterodactyl, try and hunt for krakens at the seaside, as you can pick them up, and drop them in the desert, and also you can cactus farm.
The Spider Empire (Giant Spiders)[]
A common strategy I always use as a spider is to go to the poison lake that is in every server. As a spider, you must web the hills, especially the gaps in between, so no Apex can come in and eat you. This is a popular strategy, so you probably wont be alone in the lake. You can drink the poison, and if any animal is stupid enough to wander in, you can web them. For some reason, Eagles have an unspoken pact to serve the Spider Empire. They will drop prey into the lake, and the prey will quickly die if you webbed the hills right. Occasionally, a Blackwidow spider might wander in. You can allow them to set a trap in the lake, but you don't really need it, because of the poison. Once you become a Dragon-level, you might want to protect the Empire from Apexes, since you probably have a few friends in there. Note: Don't web the lake. If it is covered in webs, you wont be able to drink the water, and will quickly die off.
To Black Dragon (from apex)[]
1. This is how I get Black Dragon- this process will usually take around 20 minutes, from apex to BD.
- Dragon; Island farm by riding a Floater and dismounting when there is a Beachball or an island covered with food. Kill the occasional prey if seen.
- Sea Monster; pull food from islands with your ability and kill apexes with the ability too. Beachballs can be scored if found.
- Black Dragon!
2. The evolution path that I usually depend on to get to Black Dragon tier (~20min)
- Choose the Yeti or the Snowman as an upgrade upon reaching 1M.
- Upon upgrading, use the Minimap to navigate to the nearest Lake in the Arctic. Once there, consume Ducks, Eggs, Pears, Acorns and the occasional prey undisturbed with the help of the Yeti’s / the Snowman’s ability. Usually, after a few minutes of such frantic farming, the Lake would be left ravaged and empty. When this happens, just relocate to another lake and continue farming there. Repeat until you reach 5M.
- After reaching 5M, choose the Sea Monster as the Tier 16 upgrade. Simply pull food from Islands and kill apexes / pre-apexes with the Sea Monster’s overpowered ability. This strategy usually allows you to hit 10M in less than 5 minutes.
Without a way to survive, you're left constantly dying to toxic players, and it certainly saps off the fun of Mope.io a little. There is no perfect survival strategy, but some can be quite beneficial and keep you alive for a decent amount of time. Below, there are some useful survival strategies suggested which may help you.
Terrain Advantage[]
A good way to evade death, especially if you have a predator on your tail, is to cross terrain that will put you at an advantage. It's always case-sensitive; for example, Cassowaries are slow in water and therefore, you are likely to not die if you go in water. Some animals are slowed in Mud, like an Eagle- as an animal like a Crocodile, you should choose to cross the Mud terrain. Hills and/or Rocks can also be obstacles to animals that don't climb them.
Ocean Biome[]
It's surprisingly easy to escape from predators in the Ocean biome. As any sea animal (or any long-diving animal), you can hide in a Whirlpool. When you run out of water, simply hold your dive key (right click or S
key) and head out of the whirlpool. Once you are low air, return to the hiding hole. Continue doing this, and eventually, your predator will get bored.
Escaping Predators[]
It's easier than it should be. Eat all the food you find in the terrain and be cautious of predators around you. If you see a predator within your animal's current FOV, keep sprinting away from the predator(s) until you don't see them. If they keep chasing you, keep running until you think you lost them and look for the nearest hiding hole. Be sure that they will arrive in 15 seconds, as if you will be invisible in the hiding hole after 15 seconds without any motion. If you are not invisible and they camp you in the hiding hole, do not exit the hole unless the predator starts running low on water. Once they run low on water, exit the hole immediately whilst sprinting as if they will not be able sprint when low on water. Once you make your escape, start grinding XP eating lots of food. If you see a prey, chase it. Beware that your prey has a possible chance to target your tail. If you have reached the moment to level up, choose water biome animals. Since they do not need to worry about water, you would have no trouble searching for water. Be cautious of eagles or special animals that can carry players. These animals can drop you on the land and you will die due to the lack of water. So if you see an eagle, dive.
Upgrading is one of the most important elements in the game, and strategies can be implemented to help in the process; such as ways to kill a high-tiered animal and upgrade quickly.
Mud Farming Method (Tiers 1 - 5)[]
This is a well-known farming method for lower tiers. It's quite simple, involving turning mushrooms into berries and farming in Mud. To do so, find a mud pool and hold the S
key to spit water into a brown mushroom. It will turn into berries which are substantial XP for tiers 1 - 3. Once Carrots can be eaten, they will provide a healthy upgrade speed.
Bee Farming Method (Tiers 6 - Tier 12 normally)[]
A common farming method used for Tiers 6+, normally ending at around Tier 12, however you can keep bee farming forever, except progress gets extremely slower as you evolve. Once you reach Tier 6, go to a mud pool where there is usually a Beehive. Simply rest your animal's front against the beehive, and the bees as they attack will automatically get eaten. Make sure to be wary of your tail as bees can still bite your tail, and keep your front facing towards the bees at all times to avoid this.
Watermelon Slices Farming (Tiers 6 - 11 effectively)[]
Find a Lava spot in the desert, or head to the Volcano. You will see whole Watermelons. Spit water using the S
key at the whole watermelons and they will instantly turn into multiple slices. Eat and repeat this process until satisfied.
Cactus Farming Method (Tiers 12-15 effectively)[]
Cacti are one of the best food sources as they give the most XP in the game (although recently nerfed), and are found in the desert. From 11-APEX, try eating aloe vera before eating cacti, as they will cancel out the damage taken. Note that from APEX to KING DRAGON, you can no longer gain the effects of aloe vera. Another tactic, is too push the cactus into a water pool, where it will absorb the water and enlarge, giving more XP. If it absorbs enough water, it will split into two. If split, never eat the smaller one, as it will take away around 75% of your health.
Kill Stealing[]
Tired of farming to upgrade? Try stealing some kills. The best animals for this are usually Jackass, a rare variant of Donkey, Elephant, Blue Whale, King Crab or other animals with powerful hitting abilities. Many scenarios can be great for kill-stealing. For example, two animals 1v1-ing outside arena. Just take the kill at the last second. Or, if a Sea Monster is whirlpooling an animal in, use the blue whale's tail slap to take the kill. If your animal doesn't have particularly good abilities, you can always tailbite the dying animal when they are on a smidge of health.
Duck Farming[]
No matter what server you're in, there will always be a duck pond if you know where to look. In the Arctic, there will always be at least two. These ducks are AIs, and incredibly weak, and most of them can't fight back. You can live in the lake, and farm ducks for the entire game, when you're at the right level. I've seen Yetis and Saberteeth at the ponds, but I personally think that the Wolf is the best animal for duck farming. You shouldn't come to the pond when you're low-level, because you'll easily get eaten. In populated servers, a Seal or other animal might wander in, and you'll get an easy lunch.
One-Shot Farming (Blue Whale Tier)[]
You can one-shot Ducks, Snails, and Frogs with Elephant/Blue Whale, as they are both able to one-shot animals. You can still one-shot frogs even when they are diving. Simply use your ability while the AI is within reach.
Help Rare Farmers (5M to 10M)[]
Choose a monster tier animal, preferably Dino Monster. Offer bites to rare farmers in exchange for the kill if they don't get a rare. For example, a Turkey that was farming for Golden Eagle would probably agree to the deal. Just stay in a relatively water-sufficient spot where they can come back to you when they upgrade. Soon, your XP bar will fill up and you'll get BD!
Some rares, often the most desired rares, are generally difficult to obtain. Thus, in order to get them in a reasonable amount of time, it is necessary to get to that tier as quickly as possible and kill oneself when it's not obtained to try again. This is known as rarefarming.
Tiers 11 and 12[]
tier 11 and tier 12 are the most popular tiers for rarefarming as they have the most amount of potential options and feature among the strongest rares in the game. There are generally two main strategies for rare farming these tiers: the Desert and Land route.
Desert
Setup
- Play the game normally through the Desert chain, with the sole exception of the Mouse although it may be omitted, until Fennec Fox tier.
- Upgrade to the Fennec Fox and seek the nearest lava pool. Spit water at the watermelons to eat the slices, being mindful of your health, and upgrade rapidly up until Gobi Bear or Hyena. If there are no lava pools or if they are far away, spitting at melons in oases and quicksand can be used to upgrade at a slower pace. Once Gobi Bear or Hyena it becomes faster to farm whole melons.
- Upgrade to the Vulture and farm aloevera plants. It's recommended to find the nearest lava spot or stay around one while farming.
- Upgrade to the Bison and repeat the previous step but also eat cacti. You need to reach a very specific XP requisite, around 140k.
- Once you get to that requisite, die to lava.
Repeating
- Respawn. If you were around 140k XP, you will respawn as tier 11 and pick the Vulture. If you are under, you will respawn as tier 10 and pick either the Gobi Bear or Hyena to farm up the Vulture.
- As the Vulture, look at the map. If you aren't near a lava pool, sprint fly using your ability to cover ground quickly.
- Farm back to the 140k XP Bison. If you're fast enough, you may be able to eat your own meat you dropped dying last time which should be enough to get to that XP point when supplemented by some watermelon. Otherwise, if your ability is ready, you can grab your own carcass, drop it, and eat the bones to gain large amounts of XP.
- Die to the lava. If there is a large amount of meat at the lava pool, sit still to avoid being upgraded to the next tier.
- Repeat.
If you see a desired rare at any point, obviously choose it.
This strategy works best on low playercount servers and with multiple farmers. It's best to gain as little XP over the minimum XP needed to conserve the amount of meat.
