The Gazelle is a tier 5 Desert animal in Mope.io, and the equivalent of the Deer, Squid, Flamingo, and Reindeer. It was introduced in the Desert Update on April 27, 2019.

Technical[]

Appearance[]

When using its Special Ability, 4 hooved legs reach outwards, 2 in front and 2 in back.

Current (S2)[]

The "Season 2" era Gazelle has a tan base and a white underbelly. It has a triangular snout, curved horns, small ears, and a short tail. There are black lines bordering the underbelly and both sides of the snout.

Flammy Heart[]

The Flammy Heart is the 2020 Halloween skin for the Gazelle. It has orange fur with light spots that give the impression of bubbling lava, and a couple of darker streaks of red. It also has patches of yellow fur on the left and right-hand sides of its body, as well as behind its head.

Gold Trim[]

The Gold Trim Gazelle is similar to the regular Gazelle, except the white parts on its upper body are a caramel-gold instead of black. Furthermore, its horns are light-gold rather than black. It's has a bit more fur than the normal Gazelle.

Old (S1)[]

The high-definition Gazelle has a ginger-colored pelt with long black curved horns. There are also 2 black stripes on the left and right side of the Gazelle's body. It has a narrow snout with ears the same color as its body protruding from the sides. There are white streaks underneath both of its eyes.

Classic Skin[]

The Classic skin of the Gazelle is light brown in color. It has two slightly lighter ovals for ears, a short triangular snout tipped with a black circle nose, and most noticeably a pair of large, dark gray, curving horns. Its eyes are outlined with white. The Gazelle has a black line on the very edges of its body with a teeny bit of white underneath. Its tail is a short darker half-circle.

Its ability uses the same legs as the current skin, but the Animal's eyes become narrowed during its usage.

Strategy[]

As a Gazelle[]

  • You can find some Aloevera leaves and Mangoes and eat them. Eating a couple will give you a lot of XP, and level you up fast. You can use an Healing Stone, if the other resources aren't available. Watch out for the whine ability from Fennec Foxes; they will decrease your health to practically nothing. However, the whine moves slowly so is easy to avoid.
  • A fun troll that will also help level you up, is to use your ability to tail-bite other players. Use the ability above the tail of a predator, and then when the Gazelle nears the ground as it is jumping, you'll bite the tail of the predator! Try to bite Bisons or Komodo Dragons, as they will have the most XP.
  • Be careful, though, as Bisons may gore you, and Komodo Dragons can use their sweat bite on you. The latter is more dangerous to your survival, since the Bison will only inflict a little damage with its gore, but the Komodos can pursue you easily while sweating, and lead to your death. Because of this, it's better to stick to tail-biting Bisons if possible.
  • Vultures can also be tail bitten too, but they give less XP. Jump onto their tails when they're flying, and stop their ability instantly. Then, you can bite it again. If you see any animal that's on extremely low health, that's a jackpot! Go to extreme measures to bite it and gain the predator's XP.
  • If a Bison/Komodo Dragon is being chased by a predator, it will most likely be distracted by the predator (or not have enough time to maneuver around to avoid you), and the kill will be yours.
  • Going into the Land biome isn't a bad idea; because you can also tail-bite Eagles and Rhinos, as they might not expect a Gazelle in the Land. However, the Desert is more fruitful for XP, so it's better to level up there. Do not go in the Ocean, as you'll freeze in there, and Sharks could drag you far out to sea and eat you.
  • Your leaping/jumping ability can also be used to hurt prey. If you want to hunt instead of farming, use your ability to quickly eat Armadillos, Meerkats and Desert Chipmunks. Desert Rats can be a little harder because of their sprinting ability, and also give almost 0 XP. The best prey to go for is an Armadillo or Desert Chipmunk. You can catch up with both easily, whereas the Meerkat's mud can put a halt to the Gazelle's ability from it getting muddy.

Against a Gazelle[]

  • Gazelles are sneaky animals; they aren't exactly a predator to be feared, but their special ability can be used to tail-bite you from air, making them quite a nuisance for higher predators. If a Gazelle is trying to bite your tail, manoeuvre around so that it can't touch your tail. To get it to stop its leaping ability, use yours - if you're a Bison or Komodo Dragon, their abilities will stun and stop the Gazelle's.
  • Other animals probably don't need to care about being bitten, as Bison and Komodo Dragons are the main two targets with the most XP. However, if you're on extremely low health, watch out for Gazelles - no matter what tier you are. If you're on low health and being chased by a predator, find a hiding hole as soon as possible.
    • Otherwise, the Gazelle will be able to catch up to you and bite you, potentially killing your animal. If you're on low health with no holes in sight, you'll just have to pick who you want your kill to go to, as the Gazelle or predator would catch up either way. However, the use of abilities (both passive and special) should not be forgotten as a method to intimidate, stun, damage or escape an opportunistic gazelle before it can use its ability or confront it until its ability ends.

Trivia[]

  • The Flammy Heart skin's upgrade message is misspelled; it reads Falmmy Heart instead.
  • The only other animal to have a similar ability to it is the Markhor. The Markhor's version of the ability does not allow it to affect predators or prey, however.
  • If the Gazelle ends its "Jump High" ability on top of a tree, it will land on that tree. This is unsual as the Gazelle normally cannot climb trees on its own.
