The three main Game Modes on the home screen until November 15, 2024.
Game Modes in Mope.io are the different styles of gameplay that players can access. As of November 15, 2024, the only main playable game mode is Free For All (FFA), also known as "live Mope". There is also 1v1 and 1v1 Redemption, both sub-game modes that are accessible for animals that are from tier 15 to tier 17 within FFA.
There is another game mode called Beta Mope.io that is used for previewing Scrapped features, but it tends to alternate between playable and closed; Beta is currently closed.
Current[]
These are all current game modes. They can be accessed on the Home Screen by clicking on the respective game mode button as seen in the image above.

- Main articles: 1v1 and 1v1 Redemption
1v1 is a sub-game mode accessible in all other servers, wherein players that are at apex tier (tier 15) and above are able to challenge other players above tier 15 to a battle inside an enclosed arena. The 1v1 arena can be customized to the player's liking, with options such as a dark background, infinite water bar (to allow infinite boosting), and can choose whether the win condition depends on the number of tail-bites vs the health bar reduction.
Removed[]
This lists game modes that were once available, but have since been removed. The vast majority of game modes of Mope.io are in this category.
Team Mode[]

- Main article: Team Mode
Team Mode was added in October 2018 and removed in November. Then, it was re-added on August 29, 2022. In this game mode, once players spawn they will be allocated into one of three teams: Yellow, Cyan, or Purple. The goal is for players to "capture" Team Stones by using them in the same way as Healing Stones until they change color according to the player's team. Team Stones are found across the map and provide special perks/buffs, such as faster movement or decreased ability recharge. When a team captures 10 Team Stones, they will trigger an apocalypse event wherein meteors fall from the sky, damaging animals. Survivors will get extra mopecoins.
Team Mode was removed on November 15, 2024.
Wild Mope[]

Wild Mope is a game mode in which the Special Abilities of all animals are a lot more powerful. This mode was first introduced in October 2018, and removed that November. It was re-added in 2023 across multiple updates from March 7 to August 3, 2023. On November 15, 2024, Wild mope was once again removed.
Viral Pandemic[]
- Main article: Viral Pandemic
Viral Pandemic was a game mode released in March 2020 to Beta. It was based on the COVID-19 pandemic, which began a few weeks before Viral Pandemic was released. In this mode, viruses existed around the map and players had to avoid becoming sick and dying in addition to other threats. Certain food sources such as aloevera had healing effects to sanitize against the virus, and mushroom bushes could be used as a mask. Viral Pandemic was removed around May 2020.
Battle Royale[]

- Main article: Battle Royale
In Battle Royale mode, a deadly "red zone" would gradually cover the map, inflicting damage onto animals. The red zone would continue to grow larger, making the safe area smaller and smaller, until just one player remained. This game mode was added in October 2018 and removed in November 2018.
Zombie Infection[]
- Main article: Zombie Infection
Added in October 2018, Zombie Infection mode featured a zombie virus which would infect animals and cause their appearance to appear more zombie-like. The mode was removed on November 23, 2018.
Classic Mode[]
- Main article: Classic Mode
Classic Mode, also known as Old Mope, was a game mode released on February 16, 2018, which replicated the state of Mope.io as it existed in December 2016. As such, the map only included the Land, Ocean and Arctic biomes, and did not include any features added from 2017 onward. This game mode was removed around early 2019.
Sandbox[]

Trivia[]
- Most of the game modes were added and removed in 2018, except for the Sandbox, which was added and removed in February 2017.
- Former Beta tester Sunfishy was the person who originally came up with the concept of Wild Mope before its first release.
- Since late 2020, King Of Agario (KOA) has made multiple statements that the game modes were planned to return. This was partially realized when Team Mode and Wild Mope were added back in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
- However, after the November 15, 2024 update which added back the pre-Season 2 graphics of Mope.io also caused Team Mode and Wild Mope to be removed.
