Mope.io Wiki

The Forest biome, also sometimes known as Timberland,[note 1] is a sub-biome in Mope.io that is within the Land biome. It is characterized by its darker green appearance in contrast to Land's ground, and an abundance of trees. The Forest was added on March 3, 2020. In the first Season 2 update on February 1, 2022, the Forest biome was expanded to cover 1/3 of the Land biome rather than its previous ~1/8.

Technical[]

ForestSizeDown

The immediate size difference when entering the Forest as shown by a Turkey

  • The Forest takes up 1/3 of the Land biome, and is normally located either near the Arctic, or near the Desert, with a river border at the Land biome.
  • The area contains a lot of trees, and the ground is a darker shade of green than the rest of Land.
  • Most entities that spawn in the Land biome also appear in the Forest. Exceptions are hills, rocks, mud, and certain food sources which do not appear in the Forest.
  • When animals without the fly over everything passive enter the Forest, their physical size appears to decrease by 20%, as does all general terrain and food forms. The size returns to normal when one is outside of the Forest's boundaries.
  • While any animal that is part of the Land food chain can spawn by pure chance in the Forest, the Forest has its own distinct food chain of animals that spawn directly in the Forest upon upgrading.

Food and terrain[]

Food/Terrain name
Appearance
Notes
Berry These berries can spawn independently in random locations, but also can be found in clusters near Berry Bushes.
Berry Bush Can be found in many random locations, will spawn berries, and appear as tiny red dots on the minimap.
Water Pod The water pod is a small unit of water that fills up the player's water bar, spawning at water spots. The Pterodactyl and Lava-drinking Animals are the only creatures that cannot drink water pods.
Water spots Water drops will generate at water spots. The water spot is distinguished from the water pod in that the former is larger, and allows animals to dive in it.
Big Hiding Hole Big hiding holes, are accessible for all Animals within the range of tiers 1 to 16.
Small hiding hole Small hiding holes are different from large hiding holes, as they can only be used by animals that are in tier 1 to tier 6.[note 2]
Cave Like Hiding holes, caves are usable by all animals below tier 17. They act as the other hiding spots do, but unlike the other holes, caves will reduce the air bar of any animal that uses them. If out of air, an animal's health bar will slowly be reduced. Also unlike holes, players can physically collide and affect (but not damage) each other inside caves.
Lake There is normally only up to one, if any, in this biome. Lakes have an assortment of hills, rocks, trees, and also are the home of most forms of Duck AI
Banana Found underneath trees.
Beehive This type of terrain can spawn in Mud spots, but are also edible and will give XP after eaten (takes 100 hits from the average animal). Honey Bees will attempt to attack any other animal that touches the hive, and can also hide in it when they aren't occupied.
Bush Bushes that are in the Land biome can create Raspberries or Pears. For a full list of food that spawns in bushes in the Arctic/Desert, refer to the main article.
River Even though these are commonly used by Ocean animals, and their purpose is mostly to be used by aquatic creatures, due to the placing of Rivers on the minimap, they are considered to be a part of the Land biome.

Animals[]

See also: Tiers

These are animals which make up the Forest food chain: they will specifically spawn in the Forest biome, not in Land (although these animals have similar characteristics to Land animals). Unlike most other biomes, the Forest does not have a full food chain; it only has animals for tiers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 15.

Tarsier
The Tarsier is the first option for the Forest biome. It can climb trees and will automatically sprint if injured by any source.

Chukar
the Chukar is the tier 2 option for the Forest biome. It has a flying ability activated by pressing W, allowing it to fly for 2 seconds. The Chukar can climb hills.

Flying Lizard
The Flying Lizard is the tier 3 option for the Forest biome. When on a hill or tree, it can glide above the ground by pressing W for a variable amount of time, maxing at 5 seconds. It can climb hills, rocks, and trees. it cannot dive in water or mud.

Kakapo
The Kakapo is a tier 4 animal that can be chosen in the Forest biome. It is able to climb on trees and hills. By holding W, the Kakapo will hop around and bite, extending its wings and sprinting.

Swinehoe
The Swinehoe is a tier 5 animal that can be chosen in the Forest biome. It can speed up for 5 seconds on land and flies when its ability is used on hills. The Swinehoe can climb hills.

Raven
The Raven is a tier 8 (formerly 6) animal that can be chosen in the Forest biome. By holding the W key on low-ground, the Raven can caw and generate sound waves around it to keep predators away and stun prey. When holding W on a tree or hill, the Raven can fly for a few seconds.

Turkey
The Turkey is a tier 9 (formerly 11) spawning option for the Forest. It is able to climb on trees and hills. When holding W on low ground, the Turkey can start up a charge and kick prey when releasing W (much like the Cassowary). On a hill, if W is pressed, the Turkey will shoot out an egg that stuns and hurts animals, and will also say "GOBBLE!" in chat. The egg the turkey shoots is also edible, so another animal is able to eat it. By pressing W on a tree, the Turkey will fly.

The Bigfoot
The Bigfoot is a Forest-spawning tier 15 animal. By pressing, W, it throws a spear, causing any animals to bleed for about 6 seconds. If the player holds W, it creates a fire, which can even be created on water. It has a 1/1000 chance of appearing on the upgrade menu, although it can be bought in the shop for 25,000 Mope Coins, reducing its rarity to 1/10.

Trivia[]

  • King Of Agario (KOA) stated in October 2020 that more features such as new food and animals will be added to the Forest, being integrated gradually in 3 to 4 large updates like the Desert had.[1] This occurred for lower tiers with the addition of the Raven and Kakapo on October 2.
    • Later, in May 2022, KOA claimed that the Forest chain would be finished by June or July.[2] However, only by December 20 were the rest of the low-tier Forest animals added – the rest of the Forest food chain has not yet been added.
    • Following KOA's resignation from the developer team in February 2024, it is unknown whether the full Forest food chain and unique food sources will be added.
  • The Bird Monster was theorized to be a Forest-spawning animal. Such theories were disproven upon its release as a Land animal on September 21, 2023.

  1. The Forest biome was originally called such when it was first added in the March 3, 2020 changelog entry. However, the October 2 changelog entry as well as a YouTube post from KOA referred to it as "Timberland". In the game files and on the upgrade menu though, this biome is still called "Forest"
  2. Exceptions to this rule are the Cobra, Blackwidow Spider and Giant Spider, all of which are able to use small hiding holes despite being above tier 6.
