The Yeti (formerly The Abominable Snowman) is a tier 15 Arctic animal in Mope.io, and is the arctic equivalent to The Snowman, Dragon, T-REX, The Bigfoot, Pterodactyl, Phoenix, King Crab and The Kraken. The Yeti was initially added with the introduction of the Arctic biome on December 26, 2016. Its rare variant, the Aqua Yeti, was added on March 3, 2020.

Technical[]

The Yeti[]

Aqua Yeti[]

  • All of the above criteria, except for its Special Ability and rarity, apply to the Aqua Yeti.
  • It has a 25/600 (4.17%) chance of being selectable on the upgrade menu.
  • The Aqua Yeti's exclusive Passive Ability is to climb on rocks in addition to hills.
  • When animals come into contact with the snowballs of the Aqua Yeti, they become 'ice statues'; they will be frozen in place, be unable to use Special Abilities, and take extra damage overtime (this applies to all animals of all tiers and all A.I.). However, Black Dragons and King Dragons will still be able to move at normal speed when turned into ‘ice statues’ although they will still take freezing damage.

Appearance[]

"Season 2" Yeti[]

The Yeti has a darkish periwinkle face with a humanoid nose and a weirdly freakish smiling mouth with two big sharp teeth coming out of the bottom, looking almost like an underbite. It has a lion-like white mane with slightly floppy furry ears. The inside of them is blue. The rest of its furry body is a light blue.

"Season 2" Aqua Yeti[]

The Aqua Yeti is identical to the current Yeti, albiet more of an aqua blue. In-game, it grows larger than the Yeti.

Golden Yeti[]

The Golden Yeti looks like the regular Yeti, except its fur and whole body is golden. Additionally, it has angry eyes, unlike the other counterparts. On its back, there are golden ridges like the Aqua and Emerald Yeti.

Emerald Yeti[]

The Emerald Yeti's whole body is green, and it has multiple emerald jewels on its back. On its back, there are green ridges like the Aqua and Golden Yeti.

Squishy Yeti[]

The Squishy Yeti has a more blue back. Its ears are more pointed, and its "fur" is more rounded. It has stitch lines and a yellow warning tag at the top left.

Frost Wolf[]

The Frost Wolf is a midnight blue canine. Its head has two large pointed ears with paler insides. Its snout is long with a small triangular nose and small ice blue incisors poke out. The Frost Wolf's eyes are bared with wrinkles above them and a light purple patch of fur between them. The sides of its head have tufts of fur. Its body is furry and has two short skinny arms ending in 4 sky blue claws. The tail is short in a cone shape.

"Season 1" Yeti[]

The Season 1 Yeti looks similar to the current Yeti, but has a white back and slightly less detail. Its fur is more fluffed. The inside of its ears is a darker gray.

"Season 1" Aqua Yeti[]

The Season 1 Aqua Yeti has a lighter back, fluffed fur, and has darker ridges on its back.

Old/Legacy Yeti[]

The old Yeti is a white circle with a blue face. It has fur sticking out of its back, and two triangles of fur in front. It has a darker blue oval as a mouth, and two white circles above it.

Strategy[]

As a Yeti[]

Against prey[]

  • To effectively level up as a Yeti, the player should eat prey and apex equivalents, by using the Snow Roar ability.
    • Whenever the player sees a Mammoth, Sabertooth Tiger or Wolverine, they should pursue them at all costs. Freeze Sabertooth Tiger off hills as they are faster than a Yeti is.
  • Since the Arctic biome is lacking in both XP and players (depending on the server), it is a good idea for the player to migrate to the Land or Ocean biome and hunt there instead. There will be more prey there and more apexes to potentially kill.
    • Ideally, when hunting prey, the player should aim for tier 14 animals as they will provide the most XP. Mammoths are possibly the easiest tier 14 prey due to their bad-quality special ability, and being large and unable to use hills or rocks.
    • In the Land biome, Cassowaries, Giant Spiders and Elephants are also viable options. The Elephant is similar to the Mammoth in many aspects, but has a stronger and more defensive special ability, making it harder to kill.
    • When the player is using their ability, they should try and get into a very crowded area (make sure there are no Krakens if in the Ocean), and freeze as many animals as possible to make maximum use of their ability.

Against other Apexes[]

  • As for other tier 15 animals, the player should be sure to use the Snow Roar as much as possible to inflict further damage when battling one.
    • If the player is not confident in 1v1, they should not go up against other Yetis, The Snowman or The Snowgirl, as the special abilities of each are quite similar.
    • The Dragon is probably the lowest threat out of all apexes. When battling one, the player should go behind it to freeze it, bite its tail and keep a distance until the Snow Roar cooldown has finished. However, since the Dragon can shoot Fire, the player should make sure their water bar is near full as fire can deplete it quickly.
      • This also applies to the Phoenix, which is a lava-drinker; attempt to lure them away from the Volcano, but the player should not go close to the Volcano themselves as this will activate debuff and put them at higher risk of catching on fire.
    • Against a Kraken, the player should fight near the Beach if possible. When The Kraken gets close to the Beach, by using the Snow Roar, the Kraken will be blasted onto the shore and be vulnerable. However, beware of the Kraken's Whirlpool ability, as it is also quite effective.
    • Going against a T-REX, the player should be able to kill them with repeated use of their ability. The Yeti's ability recharges back faster than theirs but does less damage. However, go onto hills and avoid their jaws when fighting. Even with those disadvantages, killing a T-REX shouldn't be a problem as long as the player stays clear of their jaws.
    • Should the player see a Pterodactyl flying, they should hide in a Hiding Hole before it can pick them up and drop the player in the Desert, the poison lake or in the Volcano to feed you to a Black Dragon or a Monster. Pterodactyls run out of energy rapidly while flying with an Animal, so as long as the player isn't too close to dangerous terrain, they should be fine. If it isn't flying, the player can attempt to freeze the Pterodactyl. They should do whatever possible to make sure it doesn't get into the air. It's best to freeze the Pterodactyl while it begins to take off: shoot it down while the player can, and then the Pterodactyl can't use its ability until it recharges.
  • It's also possible lure apexes like the Pterodactyl, Phoenix, T-Rex, and even a Land Monster to the ocean, where they are slow there, although experienced players may be reluctant or refuse to follow.

What to avoid[]

  • If the player encounters a Black Dragon, they better be fast on their feet. Freezing Black Dragons does more harm than good: the freeze does not hinder their speed and puts the player very close to the Black Dragon's jaws. The player should book it to the Arctic, as it's very unlikely for them to follow since they take damage periodically, drain lava rapidly, and struggle to sustain themselves on Healing Stones.
    • Whatever the player does, they should not enter a Hiding Hole or Cave unless they are confident the Black Dragon is out of its lava regeneration range because it can simply camp the player on top or at its entrance for the latter. The Black Dragon can wait for the player to thirst to death, although it's usually not preferable because the Yeti is one of the harder apexes to obtain. If the player feels petty or that they can't escape, they can thirst to death in the hole, leaving Meat behind which does not count as an apex kill.
    • Since most Black Dragons linger around the Volcano and occasionally the Desert, one can avoid most contact by staying well clear of those areas.
  • The player should be on the lookout for Ice Monsters as the Yeti is their main prey. Ice Monsters are rare, but are a dangerous threat. The crystals have a swift reload, lengthy range, deal good damage, and freeze on contact, giving Ice Monsters a window to catch up from afar. Ice Monsters can lock the player in freeze through their freezing bite and crystals.
    • The crystals can't travel over rocks or hills though, so stay on hills if possible. Ice Monsters are also slow on hills while the Yeti is only slowed slightly.
    • Escaping through water is another choice - Ice Monsters are sluggish in water and can't shoot crystals.
    • Most importantly, keep the Ice Monster a good distance away at all time.

If you manage to find a large hiding hole quite close to a pair of hills with a bit of distance between (presumably enough for an elephant to fit), hide in the hole, and when prey comes between you and the "wall," stun it with your ability and enjoy your snack. Likewise, you can use your blast by baiting ocean animals with your tail (possibly saying "free bites," too), and them blasting them onto land or into the arctic, which will make them into your meal.

Use your white color to your advantage. Find a bush in the Arctic, which to your advantage are white. Hide in it and you will be practically invisible. Better yet, disguise as a snowball in it, and wait for prey to come. One way to almost guarantee a kill is to bite prey that passes by your camping spot few times, then freeze them and start chasing them. One use of the ability usually isn't enough to guarantee a kill, but biting them first will take down their health and you can enjoy your meal.

You can also hang along the edge of the Arctic, and blast Land Animals into the Arctic. You can also go into the land biome or stay in the arctic, and find a lake. You then use your freeze ability and consume Ducks easily, or find a beehive in the land biome and destroy multiple bees at a time with your ability. Beware of dragons and other apex tier animals. They may want to kill you, so if that happens, use your ability and rush back to the arctic if you know they can't go there. Or if that isn't an option, go into a cave.

If you want to have some fun, try using your freeze ability near a tornado. The snowballs shot out would be whisked around in the tornado and will be launched out soon after. This allows you to spawn snowballs even far away from the arctic. However, the snowballs do not freeze animals anymore.

NOTE: Your ability can also slow animals down if you are being chased. Use this to get away from enemies!

Some Ice Monsters will be scared of Aqua Yetis, and try to team with them to avoid being potentially killed by them. Some Aqua Yetis may be reluctant on teaming with them, and some gladly accept this advantage. When playing as an Aqua Yeti, take into account other players and whether you really need an Ice Monster's alliance or not. If you team with the Ice Monster, use it to your advantage because they won't attack you, and they're a higher tier than you, which can possibly make getting yourself to Monster tier even easier. However, there is a small chance that they could be tricking you just to walk alongside them for them to attack you when you get to low health.

But if you don't want to team with them, that's perfectly OK too, but a little more risky. Use your ability before they can react to it, and try keep a fair distance away from it because they have an icy bite, along with their own ability. Keep repeating with this strategy, and try going near the Desert too, as it will likely chase you there or you chase them there, because there are a lot of other people who would gladly try to kill this vulnerable Ice Monster. At the last second, after other people have done their thing, use your ability! There is a chance though, that someone else will get the kill, so try killing it when it's just under a quarter of health.

Against a Yeti/Aqua Yeti[]

Yetis are deadly predators - their ability is suited for slowing and killing prey, in the span of a few seconds. The Yeti's ability is a close-range one, so if you're its prey, just try avoiding it at all costs. If an Aqua Yeti makes you an ice-statue as prey, you're probably doomed. This is because it can damage you, and that combined with the ice-statue damage can effectively kill you. Avoid the snowballs as they will make you an ice statue. Both variants of Yeti are temporarily slower after they use their ability. You can try using this to your advantage, having a slightly higher chance of escaping. Prolong and potentially prevent consumption by stunning or slowing the Yeti with your ability if you can. Fleeing in the mud is a good idea - Yetis are slow there. You won't be able to get away in the ocean as they still move as per the normal speed. If mud isn't an option, run to the Volcano. There, Yetis will suffer burning damage, and it's risky for them with the many Phoenixes, Land Monsters and Black Dragons that inhabit the area.

If you're a predator or equivalent to the Yeti, you need to play carefully. Yetis can be fairly hard to kill. Their ability is great for defense as well - blasting you back and inflicting damage. If you can sense a Yeti is about to use its ability, try moving back a little, then advancing after the freeze radius disappears. This strategy works best for the Monster and Black Dragon, especially a Dino Monster as it can simply speed up and catch the Yeti. If you want, just take the full blast of the freeze. Lately, it doesn't deal a lot of damage, and you'll only freeze for a few seconds. As a T-REX/apex, do this so you can still keep up with the Yeti. If you're a predator and see an Aqua Yeti, just run. Predators have the upper hand of at least being able to quickly damage the Aqua Yeti and flee after, but for tier 15 equivalents, the Aqua Yeti can pursue you. The main thing to do is to avoid the Snowballs from an Aqua Yeti. They are the main component that damages animals - the freeze doesn't have much difference as the normal Yeti. If either variant is close to killing you, as mentioned before, flee to either mud or the volcano. Those are the weak spots for the Yeti. Even though Yeti burns in the desert, they can still survive there. If you see one, try to prolong its departure from the Desert, since they'll lose water at an extremely high rate.

Trivia[]

  • Yetis used to be able to fit inside small hiding holes.
  • This animal used to have the longest name at 21 characters when it was still called 'The Abominable Snowman'.
  • Something that is shared between The Kraken, Dragon and The Yeti is that they are all mythical creatures and near the top of the food chain of their respective regions.
  • Before Wolverine was added, it was equal to the Rhino and Shark at tier 12, and before Mammoth was added, this animal was equal to Hippo and Killer Whale.
  • Before snow was added, pressing W turned the Yeti into a suspicious white ball.
  • The Yeti is the first apex tier to get a reskin, and the first apex to have a rare species.
  • The snowballs launched from a Yeti can be caught by Tornados. If an Animal is sucked by a Tornado with yeti snowballs, they will freeze or turn the Animal into a snow statue if they're from an Aqua Yeti.

Glitches[]

  • The Yeti's ability used to instantly kill any animal that it affected.
  • Another ability-related glitch caused the Yeti's ability to be spammable; it could be used excessively without cooldown.
  • When snow was added into the game, The Yeti would still have a red outline, for prey only, when camouflaged as a snowball. This was fixed two days later.
