UPGRADED to LION!
Press W to release a mighty ROAR (RAWR!)!

The Lion is a tier 11 Land animal in Mope.io, and the equivalent of the Crocodile, Falcon, Octopus, Vulture, and Polar Bear. It has been a part of the game since its initial release on October 6, 2016.

Technical[]

  • Upgrades from the Bear, Tiger, Swordfish, Pelican, Wolf, Gobi Bear, or the Hyena At 90K XP.
  • Upgrades to the Eagle, Rhino, Shark, Wolverine, Markhor or Bison at 145K XP.
  • The Lion can consume all food sources in the game, excluding Berries, Cactus Pears, Dates, and Cacti.
  • Prey of the Lion includes all animals within the range of tier 10 to tier 3 (Bear to Mole).
  • Predators of the Lion includes all animals within the range of tier 12 to tier 17 (Rhino to Black Dragon).
  • The Special Ability of the Lion is a Roar; when pressing W, the Lion will cause a circular sound-area to appear around it, which stuns any animal affected by it, reduces the Health Bar of prey slightly, and causes a little knockback.
  • The Lion has the Passive Abilities of Climbing on Trees and Immunity to Debuff in the Desert biome, causing it not to burn when entering.
  • It can hide in large-size Hiding Holes and Whirlpools.
  • There are multiple Lion species, including the Lioness and the Lion Cub. However, the male Lion has its own specific species, including the White Lion, Black Lion, and Black-Maned Lion.
    • The Black-Maned Lion has a 7/500 rarity. The size of its body and Roar is 20% and 15% larger, respectively, as well as a 15% slower Ability cooldown, a 5% larger field of view, and can move 50% faster in mud.
    • The White Lion has a 1/200 chance of appearing, having a 5% larger Roar, 10% faster movement speed on dry land, a 5% slower boost interval, and it is able to Climb on Hills.
    • The Black Lion has a 1/1000 chance of appearing. It has the same stats as the White Lion, but additionally has a 10% quicker Ability cooldown, 10% slower boost interval, a larger Health Bar, and can Climb on Rocks.

Gold Trim[]

The Gold Trim Lion is identical to the default Lion, except it has an orange mane instead of a brown one. The tuft on its tail is orange like the mane.

White Lion[]

The white Lion and Black Lion look the same, except their body is completely white/black. The Black-Maned Lion looks like a regular Lion, except it has a black mane, like the name implies and it also has a darker body.

Cloud Lion[]

The Cloud Lion is baby blue with a white mane. Its body and especially its mane is highly fluffy. Its ears are rounded and upright, and the Clouded Lion's eyes look a bit higher than the Lion. If one looks closely the eyes have a thin white outline on the lower part of the eye. The tuft on its tail is larger and white like a cotton ball.

Sunset Clowoud Lion[]

The Sunset Clowoud Lion looks much like the Cloud Lion, but its mane looks less fluffy. The mane has two layers:the outer layer is lavender pink, the inner layer is pale yellow and peach beneath the ears. Its body is lilac and the fur on its tail is bright pink. The outline beneath the eyes is the same color.

Storm Clowoud Lion[]

The Storm Clowoud Lion is a recolored version of the Cloud Lion. The mane and end of tail are deep royal blue, while the rest of the body is lighter. Its eyes are narrowed, giving the appearance that it is angry. When it roars its mane will be full of small bluish electric bolts (see Gallery).

Gastly Jade Lion[]

TBA.

Mantilian[]

The Mantilian is a warm marmalade orange. Its mane is amber red, more furry, and slightly longer than the normal Lion's with noticeable detail. Its eyes look angry. Its snout is highlighted. Behind the Mantilian's mane are a small pair of dark orange wings which point forwards, similar to the Dragon's. Its body is slightly furry near the tail with a darker orange patch down to the tail. Its scorpion tail is the same color and is long, bending to the right(or left from the Mantilian's perspective). The barb on the very end is red. The Mantilian is based off the Manticore from Persian mythology.

Lion (#GoldenAge)[]

The Lion is colored as deep yellow with a brown mane. As it eats, it will slowly bloat to become much larger than any of its predecessors, yet is still dwarfed by most of the later animals. Its tail is long with a black tuft on its end.

Black-Maned Lion (#GoldenAge)[]

The Black-Maned Lion looks like a regular Lion, except it has a black mane, like the name implies and it also has a darker body.

White Lion (#GoldenAge)[]

The white Lion looks the same as his normal counterpack, except his body is completely white.

Black Lion (#GoldenAge)[]

The Black Lion looks the same as the other lions, except his body is completely black.

UPGRADED to Lioness!
Lioness are fast and can launch an ambush attack. (Stop moving to camouflage)!

The Lioness is a tier 11 Land animal in Mope.io, and the equivalent of the Crocodile, Falcon, Octopus, Vulture, and Polar Bear. It is a species of the Lion, and was added in the "#KingOfMope" update on May 24, 2019.

Technical[]

Appearance[]

The appearance of the Lionesses becomes slightly more transparent while it is camouflaged.

Lioness (S2)[]

TBA.

Lioness (#GoldenAge)[]

The Lioness is colored light yellow. Lacking a mane, the Lioness's snout is generally smaller and has smaller eyes that are closer together than the Lion's. The eyes have a shadow underneath. Its body is less furry with a middle dark line down the center and has larger, bolder ears which point slightly downwards in comparison to the Lion's. The tail looks identical to the Lion's except it is shorter. It doesn't get as big as the Lion but still is relatively large.

White Lioness (#GoldenAge)[]

The White Lioness has the same appearance as the default Lioness' skin, with the exception of having a white body rather than yellow.

Black Lioness (#GoldenAge)[]

The Black Lioness is identical to the normal Lioness, but has a black body.

UPGRADED to Lion Cub!
Press W to release a mighty MEOW!

The Lion Cub is a tier 11 Land animal in Mope.io, and the equivalent of the Crocodile, Falcon, Octopus, Vulture, and Polar Bear. It is a species of the Lion, and was added in the "#KingOfMope" update on May 24, 2019.

Technical[]

  • Upgrades from the Bear, Tiger, Swordfish, Pelican, Wolf, Gobi Bear, or the Hyena At 90K XP.
  • Upgrades to the Eagle, Rhino, Shark, Wolverine, Markhor or Bison at 145K XP.
  • The Lion Cub is able to eat all food sources in the game, excluding Berries, Cacti, Cactus Pears, and Dates.
  • Prey of the Lion Cub includes all animals within the range of tier 10 to tier 3 (Bear to Mole).
  • Predators of the Lion Cub includes all animals within the range of tier 12 to tier 17 (Rhino to Black Dragon).
  • The Special Ability of the Lion Cub is to Roar; when pressing W, the Lion Cub will create a small circular sound-radius around it that stuns any creature that touches it, reduces the Health Bar of prey and creates knockback. The Lion Cub's Roar ability is the smallest of all Lion species', due to the Lion Cub's body size also being quite small.
  • The Passive Abilities of the Lion Cub includes Climbing on Trees, Faster Movement on dry land, and Immunity to Debuff in the Desert biome.
  • It can hide in both small and large Hiding Holes, and Whirlpools.
  • The Health Bar of the Lion Cub is even smaller than the Lioness'; most predators of the Lion Cub can kill it in two hits. Moreover, the Lion Cub only deals 40% damage to its prey (this does not include inanimate objects with Health Bars such as food).
  • Lion Cubs have a very small Field of View, that is similar to that of tier 1 animals.
  • Due to the Lion Cub being a species of the male Lion, it will not always be selectable, having a 3/50 rarity. There are also Lion Cub varities:
    • The White Lion Cub has a 1/12 chance of being selected if the normal Lion Cub is achieved.
    • The Black Lion Cub has a 1/60 chance of being selected if the normal Lion Cub is achieved.

Appearance[]

Lion Cub (S2)[]

TBA.

Lion Cub (#GoldenAge)[]

The Lion Cub is light yellow and paler than the other two variants. It is very small; not much larger than most tier 1 animals. It looks similar to the Lioness but has large eyes and big rounded ears. Its head is disproportionately large and has a very short tail.

White Lion Cub (#GoldenAge)[]

The White Lion Cub is identical to the normal Lion Cub, but has a white body.

Black Lion Cub (#GoldenAge)[]

The Black Lion Cub has the same appearance as the normal Lion Cub, but its fur is black rather than yellow.

Strategy[]

Eat coconuts to gain XP easily. You can surprise-attack prey from a hiding hole and then roar. This is useful for boosting animals, so they can't boost away. Your roar will stun them so you can eat them easily. Also use your ability to drive away gorillas, because they can climb trees and therefore can steal your coconuts and bananas. When running away from predators, roar and then run as fast as you can or hide in a Hiding Hole if needed. Your ability's range is a little larger than what the circle indicates, but will not damage and only stun if an Animal is hit at this distance. For predators, you'll usually want to hit them as far as you can to maximize the amount of distance, but for prey you'll want to get pretty close instead. If the predator comes back while you're in a Hiding Hole, you can jump out, tail-bite them, roar to stun them, and then you better be fast on your feet if you don't want to end up as breakfast.

Double-tap the 'W' key for your ability to end it faster, or else the Lion opens its mouth for a while to roar (the distance isn't affected if you do so). Double tap to still stun the predator/prey and end your stillness faster! This doesn't work for white and black variants, wait for at least half a second before tapping it again for them; otherwise the ability doesn't work.

The Lion and Lioness can both try farming Honey Bees. Note that if you roar, Honey Bees will stop chasing whoever they were previously chasing and come after you instead. If another animal has already drawn out a lot of bees, this is a sneaky and easy way to make them your prey instead. As Lion Cub, it's recommended not to farm Honey Bees. This is only because the bee stings will affect your health a lot more. Bees that tail-bite a Lion Cub can also eat it in two bites, so if you want to farm them anyway, be careful.

If you're a Lioness, hunting prey is a very reliable strategy. As it has a superior speed (Lioness has nearly the same speed capacity as an Ostrich!), chasing after prey becomes quite easy. Your ability can also help catch prey, making sure to double tap and quickly bite them a lot while the prey is stunned.

Note that as a Lion Cub you have low health and a bad bite so you should not try hunting. Instead, farm.

It can be cute if you team up with the other lion types (Lion, Lioness or Lion Cub) that are the same color as you to make a “family”. If you are a Lion Cub this can be helpful as well as your “parents” can protect you. Otherwise, it's not advised to pick the normal Lion Cub because it's essentially a downgrade of the Lion, and should be picked only if it's the white or black version as they give 50 coins respectively. You'll want to level up as soon as possible if you are a Lion Cub, especially the Black and White Lion Cubs, as predators will probably see you as free coins and try to kill you.

If a Wolverine challenges you to a roaring contest, decline it and run away, as you will always lose due to their immunity to roars and their much larger roar radius. However, if it is low on health, try to tailbite it until it dies. Never use your roar during the contest at all, and avoid the Wolverine's roar.

Trivia[]

  • The Lion has existed in Mope.io since it was first released - it was the first animal in the game.
  • The Lion is one of two animals to have animals added directly before and directly after it. The Deer and Cheetah were both added in updates.
    • Before the cheetah was added, it upgraded to the crocodile at 16K XP.
    • Before the deer was added, it upgraded from the Fox at 4K XP.
  • It is the animal that has moved the most around the upgrade path;
    • From Fox and to nothing.
    • From Fox and to Crocodile.
    • From Fox and to Cheetah.
    • From Deer and to Cheetah.
    • From Deer and to Zebra.
    • From Zebra and to Cheetah.
    • From Cheetah and to Bear.
  • It use to be the only land animal with a land equivalent, the gorilla.
  • Like the Hippo, wolf, Fennec Fox, T-REX, Land Monster, The Bigfoot, Cobra and the Wolverine, their abilities make the player say a message.
  • Prior to the rebalance, the roar could give a very rare occurrence of a "MEOW!" which gives off a weak stun and a very short range.
    • This feature is now exclusive to the Lion Cub.
  • Before the October 4, 2016 update, with the introduction of the Dragon, it was the highest animal on the food chain.
  • The Lion has 10 species in total: 4 for the Lion (White, Black, Normal and Black Maned), 3 for the Lioness (White, Black and Normal), and 3 for the Lion Cub (White, Black and Normal).
  • There was a glitch that gave the player 50 coins when they select the Sunset Clowoud or Storm Clowoud. It worked in a fashion similar to rares - if a player kills a Storm Clowoud or Sunset Clowoud they will also earn 50 coins.
    • This was fixed in Hotfix #2.1 on May 27, 2021.
