Trees are terrain-forms in Mope.io that are present in all biomes. There are six varieties of the tree, being Land, Fir, Coconut, Banana and Desert (2 types). They were added in the game on March 3, 2020, but were showcased many months earlier in Beta

Technical[]

  • Trees are composed of small solid trunks, blocking the movement of non-flying Animals, and a canopy.
  • Some Trees may generate food. These Trees come in 6 varieties: Land, Coconut, Banana, Fir, Orange and Desert.
    • Land trees generate in any number of specific locations in the Land biome, as the name implies. They are also densely located in Timberland, the sub-biome within Land. They can only generate Beehives.
    • Coconut trees are usually found on Beaches and around the edges of Islands. Their canopy is two layers of lime green long pointy leaves branching from the trunk. Some trees may generate Coconuts near the bark of the tree.
    • Banana trees generate rarely by themselves, but are abundant around Lakes, the shoreline, and on the edges of Islands. They look somewhat like palm trees, with long toothed leaves in three shades of green. Some trees generate Bananas near the trunk of the tree.
    • Fir trees only spawn in the Arctic. They spawn randomly and in higher quantity around Lakes. They have pointy tops, layers of green sharp leaves, and snow. Some Fir trees generate Arctic Nuts around their trunk.
    • Orange trees are similar to the Land trees but have an olive canopy. They may also generate as a leaf-less shriveled tree instead. Some fully leaved trees may generate Oranges.
      • Food generated is smaller than their normal size but give the same amount of XP.
    • The Tree varieties have contrasting sizes. While the Land and Banana trees are large, all others are typically smaller in size. The Fir and Orange tress are exclusive to the Arctic and Desert biomes - they are the only kind of tree that generates in those biomes.
  • Certain animals can climb trees. These animals can climb trees with S while touching the trunk of the tree, and can get off the tree any time by pressing S again or by walking off the top. However, players can climb onto other trees without touching the ground if two or more trees are close together.
    • If the player is a tree-climbing Animal and touches a tree trunk for the first time in the session, a pop-up appears saying "Press S while under a tree to climb it! (Certain animals can)."
    • There is no limit to how long one can stay on a tree, although their Water bar will deplete over time and they will have to drink water eventually.
    • There is a 5 second delay before the player can climb another tree. If the player tries to climb a tree before the 5 seconds is up, they will receive the error message: "You just climbed a tree, wait (amount of time in seconds)".
  • If a non-tree climbing Animal presses S on a tree the error message "This Animal can't climb Trees!" appears.
  • Flying Animals can fly over trees and hit any Animals on top of trees normally and with abilities, but not Animals that are beneath it.
  • The canopies of trees are opaque, but will become transparent if the player nears the tree, showing the trunk and any food if it is a food-bearing tree.
  • If a player is under a tree, they are unaffected by the respective Special Abilities of the Snowy Owl, Falcon, Pakistan Vulture[note 1], Eagle, and Pterodactyl.

Appearance[]

Land Tree[]

The Land Tree's canopy is colored green, with the inner color being lighter in order to see the brown trunk of the tree. Branches can also be seen coming from the trunk.

Fir Tree[]

The Fir Tree consists of multiple triangular green leaves pointing in many different directions. This variety is also covered in white snow, with the green color of the leaves only being visible around the border of each leaf.

Coconut Tree[]

The Coconut tree has long triangular leaves - less than the Fir - that also have a lighter green line down their center. Though the full tree trunk of the Coconut tree cannot be seen, the top of it is brown.

Banana Tree[]

The Banana tree has multiple long rectangular leaves that are pointed at the end. Some of its leaves are dark green, while others are a lighter shade of green.

Orange Tree[]

The Orange tree has 2 forms: a tree with an olive green canopy, and a small tree with less leaves.

Strategy[]

Goliath Spider
This section or article is incomplete, and could use some expansion. You can help the Mope.io Wiki and these Goliath Spiders by editing it.
Goliath Spider
  • Currently, animals can fall off trees without taking damage, and will fall immediately, so tree climbers can fall straight onto the tails of unsuspecting non-climbing predators.
    • However, if the player wants to do so, make sure an escape route is planned as the predator will most likely retaliate.
  • When facing predatory tree-climbing animals, switching between Tree layers can help confound the predator to make escape easier.
  • Animals that have the passive ability of Fly over everything (e.g. the Dragon, Land Monster, Black Dragon etc.) will only be able to physically access the upper level of the canopy, and cannot go underneath trees. As such, when facing such animals, be sure to stay underneath trees when cornered by one.
  • Markhor and Gazelle can jump onto Trees using their ability (for Markhor, specifically the jump from Hills). This gives them a means to rest from some predators for a moment, and to potentially recharge their ability.

Trivia[]

  • The Gorilla's ability description says it needs to be touching a tree to throw items. This is false, as it can throw bananas and coconuts if the player touches a hill or tree
  • 'Trees' were originally simple hills with a Bush on top. Any Animal that could climb Hills could climb Trees as well. Old Trees did not shelter Animals from abilities.
  • Before Fir trees, trees in the Arctic were just white-colored versions of the default tree.
  • Trees used to spawn in the Desert. They were olive green reskins of the normal tree, and could spawn Oranges or Dates. Desert trees were only seen in Beta, and never made it to the main game. However, they have been readded back since the February 1, 2022 update.
  • When trees were reworked, a player didn't need to press S to climb the tree: they only needed to touch the trunk. This was later changed to where pressing S is required.

  • Players could take a small amount of damage if they fell off a tree (without pressing S again to get down). However, this damage was rarely done to the player and it's unknown if the feature still exists.
  • There was an old texture for the Fir tree in the game files long before trees existed in the game. Unfortunately the texture was removed in an unknown update.
  • If a trunk is small enough, large enough animals(mostly seen with the Monsters) could disregard the trunk and move through the tree unhindered. It's unknown if this is intentional or not.

Glitches[]

  • There was a rare bug where Coconut and Banana trees would spawn fruit rapidly, allowing Animals to become Dragons and their equivalents in a matter of minutes. However, this bug has been fixed.
  • A player can temporarily glitch an animal that can't climb hills, such as Mouse, onto the hill if they jump off a tree.
  1. If a Pakistan Vulture starts their ability immediately next to a tree, they can still grab the animal closest to them under the tree.
