Use your powerful arms to smack your prey!
The King Crab is the 15th ocean animal in Mope.io, and is the equivalent of the T-REX, The Bigfoot, Yeti, Snowman, Dragon, Phoenix, Kraken and Pterodactyl.
Technical[]
- Upgrades from the Elephant, Blue Whale, Giant Spider, Cassowary, Mammoth, or Blackwidow Spider at 1M XP.
- Upgrades to the Sea Monster, Land Monster, Ice Monster, Dino Monster or Giant Scorpion at 5M XP.
- Can eat all animals below it to Fox and its equivalents.
- The King Crab be eaten by Monsters, Black Dragon and King Dragon.
- Pressing
Wcauses the player to smash forwards with at least an arm. The smash takes away around 1/4 of the impacted animal's health.- The player can smash with either their left arm, right arm, or both, which causes two waves rather than one and deals more damage. The latter is rarer, although it can manually be triggered if the player releases the
Wkey after diving for some time. The single arm smashes have different hitboxes depending on the arm's position. - A wave appears if the player smashes in water(similar to the Killer Whale's waves). Outside of water, no wave will appear but a small shockwave will knock animals backwards.

Appearance[]
King Crab[]
The King Crab has a red shell and a lightly tinted red body. It has 1 pair of pincers that are symmetrically aligned and are under the eyes. Also, it has 4 legs on each side of its body, bared eyes, and 4 pairs of red right-triangles meant as grooves ascending from smallest to largest, going down the middle of its shell. Even though it has no visible tail, it can still be tail-bitten.
Amethyst Crab[]
The Amethyst Crab is like the King Crab, only it is mostly purple, leaving only a small part of the claws magenta. Also it has spikes across its body, unlike the King Crab.
Golden Crab[]
The Golden Crab is basically a gold Amethyst Crab with shorter spines and more spikes, including on its body and pincers.
Plasma-core King Crab[]
The Plasma-core King Crab is a perfectly rounded red circle with blue electricity all along its body. A red ball sits at its center radiating the electricity. It has bright blue eyes with highlights. Its limbs are red and bluish at the center, but its claws are bright aqua blue.
Strategy[]
Catching Prey[]
- If you want some free food, go after an Octopus or some other low level animal. Use your ability which will weaken it greatly. Then, enjoy your meal.
- If you want to get great amounts of XP, hunt for Blue Whales or Killer Whales. Your arm smash deals a ton of damage, making your prey easy to kill.
- Also, you can try dominating a lake for easy XP.
- Another way to get easy XP is to observe two apexes fighting, and when one is at low health (about 1/8 of full health), arm smash it to get the kill and around 500K XP to 4M XP.
- Another, slower strategy is to dive and hide under a rock near the ocean shore. When a water-dependent animals such as a Shark comes between the rock and the shore, pop out and use your ability. The animal will be pushed onto the land where it will most likely die, and cannot get back to the ocean without getting through you.
What to be aware of/How to defend yourself[]
- Never go onto the land unless absolutely necessary. You are extremely slow on land, and other high-tier animals such as the Dragon, T-REX or Elephant can easily harass you. Especially beware of T-REXES, as they can drag you onto land and deny sources of water, as well as causing high damage.
- Elephants are also more of a hazard, being able to knock you back with their ability which has a fast reload. The arm smash can delay these animals, but it's best to stay in your element altogether.
- If worst comes to worst, find a water spot or lake to hide in, using your arm smash to prevent them from doing any further damage.
- When fighting a Dragon, arm smash it and tailbite it. Make sure to dodge the Dragon's fire by diving. Then, arm smash it and tailbite it again. Repeat this until it is dead. If it is winning, dive and retreat. If it is losing and running away, chase after it and arm smash it until it dies.
- In general when against a T-REX, try to fight it in water, as it is a lot faster than you at land. If you are at land, run away from the T-REX and all other animals in the apex tier. However, if you are at water, arm smash the T-REX and dive. Repeat this until the T-REX is dead. If it dives, dive as well so you don't get chomped on. Since your dive time is longer, it will resurface before you and you can smash it again. If it is winning, dive and retreat. If it is losing and running away, chase after it and kill it.
- When fighting a Kraken, arm smash it: your ability deals a good amount of damage. Try to guess when it will use its ability, then dive just before it uses it. Then, arm smash it and tailbite it. If you get caught in the whirlpool, turn around to face it so it can't tailbite you. When you can, use your ability. Repeat this until it is dead. If it is winning, dive and retreat. If it is losing and running away, chase after it and kill it.
- Yetis or Snowmen will be disadvantaged in water, where you have a great speed and dive time advantage. Arm smash it and dive. Dodge the snowballs that the Yeti or Snowman is shooting as the snowballs stun you for a long time. When you are arm smashing it, smash it in the direction away from the Arctic and preferably the direction of the deeper oceans. If it is winning, dive and retreat. If it is losing and running away, chase after it and kill it.
- Against Phoenixes, try fighting it in the ocean. Its fire tornadoes will die quickly, and it is very slow in the water. Plus, they can't dive underwater. If it tries going back to land, arm smash it away from the land and keep fighting. If it is somehow winning, dive and retreat. If it is losing and running away, chase after it and smash it to death.
- When fighting a Pterodactyl, arm smash it and tailbite it. If it attempts to fly and your ability isn't fully recharged, don't bother diving. Try arm smashing it when it attempts to fly. Similar to the Yeti, lead it in the direction away from the Desert. Try to arm smash it away from the Desert and in the direction of the deeper oceans. Since Pterodactyls will freeze in water, it will be an easy win. If it is winning, dive and retreat. If it is losing and running away, chase after it and kill it. (Make sure it doesn't get into the air).
- When fighting a Bigfoot, arm smash it and tailbite it. Dodge its spear, as it will deal around the same damage as your arm smash if you are stabbed. Dive underwater if it tries to stab you. Then, arm smash it and tailbite it again. Repeat until it is dead. If it is winning, dive and retreat. If it is losing and running away, chase after it and kill it. However, beware of its spears coming after you (again!)
- When fighting another King Crab, arm smash it and dive so you don't get smashed. If it uses its ability, resurface and tailbite it. When your ability recharges, arm smash it again. Repeat this until your opponent is dead. If it is winning, dive and retreat. If it is losing and running away, chase after it and smash it until it loses all its health.
- If you see a Black Dragon, you can flee from it if it has about full health, or you can use your double-arm smash and quickly dive back into the water. Since your ability does a high amount of damage and a knockback, if you repeat this process in the ocean, you'll theoretically have a chance of killing the Black Dragon. However, you have to make sure that it does not find a healing stone or fly back to the Volcano.
- Look out for the Sea Monster because of the fact that you are the most likely food for it. Dive and try to go inside a whirlpool. You can go onto a large hill or rock, then arm smash the sea monster to scare it away. If a Sea Monster is low on health, try to arm smash it to get the kill. When its using its ability, dive underwater until you're at the Sea Monster, and resurface to kill it with the arm smash. If you want to avoid the Sea Monster, then go to a lake and try to get XP from there. However, if a Sea Monster comes to the lake, get out of the lake as quickly as possible. If you see a sea monster goofing on land for some reason, smash it further onto land, and kill it when it is at very low health.

Trivia[]
- It was the only animal to be added on the December 25th update without KoA teasing on it in his YouTube channel.
- In real life, King Crabs are not that strong and not very large. King Crabs are also not considered crabs. They are only named so because of their similarity in appearance, however, they are different species of crustacean.
- Despite the King Crab's upgrade message of "Upgraded to King Crab!", if the player is arm smashed by one, a text appears reading "A Giant Crab smashed you back!".
- The King Crab along with the Pterodactyl and the T-REX are the only apex tier animals to either exist or have existed in the real world.
