UPGRADED to Giraffe!
Giraffes have long legs that can stomp anyone comes in their way!

The Giraffe is a tier 8 Land animal in Mope.io. It is the equivalent of the Cobra, Stingray, Walrus, Snowy Owl and Camel. The Giraffe was released on November 2, 2017.

Technical[]

  • Upgrades from the Donkey, Zebra, Muskox, Warthog or Turtle at 25K XP.
  • Upgrades to Cheetah, Gorilla, Toucan, Pufferfish, Rattlesnake or Snow Leopard at 40K XP.
  • Can eat animals beneath it to Mole tier and can eat all types of food except for conches, clams, aloevera, cacti, coconuts, bananas and large meat pieces.
  • Can be eaten by all animals from Cheetah and above.
  • The Giraffe's stomp ability can be used by holding W. It shares some characteristics with the Donkey and Elephant, but it kicks forward instead of backwards and instead of having a trunk, it kicks. It will stomp 4 times, with a double stomp at the end of the ability. This will stun and damage prey, but does not damage predators that are around tier 12. The Giraffe slows down considerably while its ability is in use.
    • On March 12, 2020, the ability was re-worked to be faster and have the double stomp at the end.
  • The Giraffe has 2 distinct Rare versions that spawn in the Timberland: Girabie and Mommaffie.
    • There is also a separate related Rare known as the White Giraffe. This Rare is tier 13, and acts as its own animal.

Girabie[]

  • All of the above.
  • The Girabie has a rarity of 10/500(2%).
  • Notably small, even when close to upgrading.
  • Moves quicker than a normal Giraffe.
  • Its ability has 40% less cooldown and deals slight damage and stun.
  • Has 1 less HP than the normal Giraffe.

Momaffie[]

  • All of the above.
  • The Momaffie has a rarity of 50/500(10%).
  • A little smaller than a normal Giraffe, but not as much as Girabie.
  • Moves quicker than a normal Giraffe.
  • Its ability is 50% faster than a normal Giraffe. It can hurt predators.
  • The Momaffie has a 25/500 chance(5%) of spawning with an AI controlled Girabie.
    • The Girabie follows the player as they move, or can be made to move for as long as the player holds W. They will wander if the player is standing still.
    • When the Momaffie uses her stomp ability, Girabie will go to the player's spot and use their stomp ability.

Appearance[]

Giraffe (S2)[]

The "Season 2" Giraffe is a rich yellow animal with many detailed brown spots all over its body. Its head has pointed ears with a brown bunch of fur going down the middle of its head. The Giraffe has two long horns (ossicones) ending in slight amounts of fur. Its ears have faint spots beneath them. It also has a long extending snout, and a tail with fur on the end. The Giraffe has bits of fur sticking out of its body.

Momaffie[]

The Momaffie is a white version of the normal Giraffe. She has slightly smaller eyes and ears with pink insides that droop slightly. Faint spots can be seen on her horns. The fur on her head is lighter and brushy. She has less fur on her body and more squiggly spots.

Girabie[]

The Girabie is just like its mother, except its ears are smaller and tufty. It is slightly more of a brown hue, and has larger eyes. Its head is notably smaller.

Gold Trim[]

The Gold trimmed Giraffe simply turns the spots and tufts of fur on the Season 1 Giraffe's body golden, giving a lighter appearance.

Quilin Giraffe[]

The Quilin Giraffe is a teal dragon-like creature. Its head has greenish spots, large deer-like horns on its shortened ossicones, and flame-like fur behind it emitting red smoke. It has yellow furry eyebrows giving it an angered expression and yellow tufts under its head. The bridge of its nose is scaly green, and it has flared nostrils. Under its nostrils is a small yellow mustache. The Quilin Giraffe has long whiskers going back towards its body. The Giraffe has light blue ear insides. Light blue-green spots can be seen on its body, which has an outline of green fur around it. It has a long yellow fur tuft on its tail.

Giraffe (#GoldenAge)[]

The "Season 1" Giraffe looks pretty much like the current one, except that it has less shadows and is generally lighter. It lacks the spots by the ears.

Classic Giraffe[]

The old Giraffe is yellow with irregular dull yellow patches on its body. It has horns the same color and a brown oval in the middle of its elongated head. Two ovals act as nostrils at the end of its snout. Its ears are pale yellow, and it has massive eyes. The Giraffe's tail is short and slender with a brown oval at its end.

Strategy[]

As a Giraffe[]

Use the Giraffe's ability to farm food is the best way to level up. Using it on Bees and Ducks will lead to an instant upgrade. However, be cautious in lakes as Giraffes are fairly slow in water, and are easy targets to predators such as Crocodiles. Furthermore, consuming multiple red mushrooms and watermelon slices is also a valid choice (create watermelon slices by pressing S 6 times into a whole watermelon, causing it to explode).

Hunting and killing other non-AI animals for XP-gain is a lot more time-consuming and can be harder, as the Giraffe's ability can be lacking in range. Moreover, the Donkey and Zebra, the main ideal targets as they are right below Giraffes on the food chain and plentiful in XP, are very hard to catch due to their defensive abilities which can easily stun a Giraffe to make a quick getaway.

As Girabie[]

As a Girabie, you have less health points and therefore you will die easily. Beware of predators, as they will hunt you for coins. The best strategy for Girabie is probably just eat and level up as the ability is too weak to do serious damage.

As a Momaffie[]

Momaffie has low health as well, but superior to the Girabie's. This animal can steal kills if find an animal on low health. Activate your ability when you are behind them, and the damage will be done and you will have a kill. However, still be cautious about your health points.

As A Momaffie Family (Girabie and Momaffie)[]

Protect your Girabie, as your damage will not increase if it dies, but instead decrease. Many people will hunt you, and Girabie can still be eaten when diving. Avoid most animals. Level up by farming, then eat your Girabie when you level up for extra experience points and coins. This is kind of being a cannibal or being brutal, but it is an option for earning coins.

Criticism[]

Many people disliked the Giraffe once because of the fact that their ability dealt such high damage, enough to easily pick off high tier animals that are even at half HP. It was also used for teaming frequently against apexes and Black Dragons, which was quite disruptive to the game's balance.

In a following update, KOA implemented extreme nerfs, making it only do two stomps and not damaging high tier predators at all, and reducing its stun time. Because of this, the Giraffe now is considered to be useless/unplayable by the community, although it does 5 stomps.
